Created wth Notion! My release for the month in the Works series. This is the first movement from Gustav Holst's Second Suite for Military Band, arranged for strings. This production features Kirk Hunter's new Concert Strings Adaptive along with Virharmonic's Bohemian Cello. The CSA strings are well suited to both lyrical passages and agile play when required. Enjoy!

This is excellent! :+1

THOUGHTS

Now that my SONY MDR-7506 headphones have new ear pads and I can hear deep bass, I think the deep bass is very nice, which includes the overall balance and audio-engineering of all the instruments . . .

I like the violins and cello, too . . .

I think this is the first time I have heard this piece, and I get a sense it has something to do with Russia, which is based on the segue that occurs at 1:53, but it also has Irish flavors . . .

The segue was a nice surprise!

After listening a few morel times, I think it has strong Irish influences--Russian, too, but the Russian influences are more subtle . . .

I knew about "The Planets" and have listened to it at various times, but this was all I knew about Holst . . .

Lots of FUN! :)

Thanks for listening and the kind words! I've recorded a number of works by Holst. He's one of my favorite composers. The folk tunes that he adapted for this piece are "Morris Dance" "Swansea Town" and "Claudy Banks" which tell me that the influences are Welsh and Scottish.
