New user. As soon as I open the program and choose a template I get "Sounds are not available" error. No voice sounds, guitar sounds etc.
|
This is what I get everytime I open a new project.
My sound card works. It is set to Windows Sound and I've also tried WSAPI. My samples directory is : C:\Program Files\Progression 2\Support which was the default from the install. My VST directory is populated with disabled effects from my Amplitube install and I've added one VSTi which is PianoOne. |
What fixes this problem, I found out all by myself, ahem, is downloading the second file available to you in your account. I did not realize this file was "required" when I bought the product, nor to I recall this being mentioned anywhere. Anyway, the file is called: "Progression 2 Bundled Sounds For Windows". Without installing this 1.4GB download the program doesn't do much soundwise at least.

AND THEN....AND THEN....you NEED too go into your FILE | PREFERENCES | AUDIO | SAMPLES FOLDER and change this to:
C:\Program Files\Progression 2\Sounds\Bundled\ than and only then does the program work. I would suggest to the developers that they install the Bundled Sounds FIRST so when the Progression 2 program installs it SEES that the sounds are already installed!! Just a thought. Now I can play with this nice program. |
michaelkoch-schulte wroteAND THEN....AND THEN....you NEED too go into your FILE | PREFERENCES | AUDIO | SAMPLES FOLDER and change this to: Try pointing just to here (One folder further back than you mentioned earlier) C:\Program Files\Progression 2\Sounds And making sure that the sounds sub-folders are all in there (as the Bundled Sound Installer should place them by default).. That way any download additional Sounds that you buy will also be seen.

I am using Progression 3. I installed the software then the sound file. When I open a file for electric guitar Progression tells me that electric guitar sounds are not available. Checking for updates Progression tells me my sound files are up to date. Following the above instructions I go to preferences/audio and check for the sound file directory and Progression tells me it is program files/ progression 3/sounds but there is no such directory.

I have the same problem but I don't undertstand your solution - how do you "run the download"?
I've installed the soundbanks into the right folder, I've selected the folder as described above in Preferences->Audio, (both \Sounds\ and \Sounds\Bundled\, no difference) and I'm still getting the terse error "Piano (or whatever) Sounds are not available". I must admit I'm not very impressed with this software so far. Very cold and unfriendly, a quick start tutorial would have been nice. |
In case anyone has the same problem - each time I tried to fix the above I re-opened my basic project that I'd used as a scratchpad - and it seems that it was the project that was unable to play any sounds. In other words, after making the correct settings and then starting a new project, the sounds were back.
A bad start but hopefully I'll get used to the rest of it. |
