I have an 8 string guitar, the bottom string is tuned to an octave below regular E on a 6 string guitar. When I tried to write for it I discovered that while Notion will display the notes it will only play the notes down to D below regular E.

Most of the bass players I work with have 5 string basses and one has a 6 string bass. I've found that they are treated similarly.

Any chance of some extra sounds for us lower class types?
