hi, continuing my other thread regarding the speakers having trouble "waking up", my speakers have been falling asleep (power led turns red, no sound) if the level of the music playing is low or the type of music is not "pumping" (i.e.. ambient/classical music).
i'm using direct in via rca input.
do i have a faulty pair?

If the speakers don't sense an input signal for a specific amount of time they go into a 'power save' mode. But they shouldn't be falling asleep with signal coming in. It's possible that there may be an issue with the input sensitivity.

You may want to open a support ticket and our guys can give you some suggestions on what you might test. If you go to support.presonus.com you can open a ticket and someone will respond back to you as soon as possible.

Hope this helps.

I've got a pair of the C4.5's myself. As Rick mentioned, the speakers do go into a power save mode if they're receiving no or low levels of audio for about 15 minutes. I can definitely relate to you in that if I'm listening to ambient music at a low volume (I'm talking slightly audible, really just for background noise), the speakers sometimes go into the power save mode. However, if you're listening to music at a normal volume, but the music isn't "pumping" and the speakers are going into the power save mode...then you might have something wrong.

Again, as Rick mentioned, opening a support ticket is a good idea if you think that they're acting irregularly. Here's a link to do so: http://support.presonus.com/requests/new

Interestingly, I had the same problem with my Ceres BT 4.5 speakers. It turned out that I had the speaker volume turned up high and the volume on my iPhone turned low, resulting in — it appears — that the speakers were receiving a signal weak enough that they'd go to sleep. The solution was simple: I turned up the volume in iTunes and turned down the volume on the speakers. Voilà! No more sleepyhead speakers.
