For electric guitar I need three staves at times and 2 staves at others. When I need three I use a standard notation and tab staves for the melody and another standard notation stave for rhythm. I enter the chords between the tab and the rhythm staves. When I need two I only need the standard notation and tab staves for the melody and put the chords on top. As it is now, when I don't need the rhythm stave I cannot delete it so it make the score much longer than necessary. If you want I can scan some examples of scores I transcribe that require this.
