Well a track is a container and can be what you need it to be.
Like here I made 4 mono tracks and I turn them into stereo tracks. Just how you want to use it. Mono is pretty rare animal in my workflow so I name them mono and I have a lot easier time finding them.

Display the 'Input controls' (little wrench ect.) and you can tell them apart. As you already discovered Desktop area real-estate thing I guess.

And, open the Inspector, or click on the waveform symbol on the channel and take a look at the waveform.

I guess the point is I'd rather know by looking at the console what I have without having to do some extra steps or open other sections to see the waveform or whatever. A little symbol to differentiate a mono track from stereo track would be good. It's just something I ran across right away when I first started using S1. I find it odd and a tiny bit frustrating.
But it's hard to believe how great S1 is. I'm really glad I've switched. |
Your best bet in the console view is the metering when a signal is preset.

I was going to say what Jemusic said but in the op' s original pictures there is no audio so he has a point.
If you look at Jemusic's stereo Meter it has a black line between L and R why cannot PreSonus make that line white until audio is present? Too easy I guess... |
When you name stereo tracks put 'St' at the end of the name. Even if a name is long the St will always show up in the console view.
