Hi All,

I thought everything went well with UC update and firmware. On the day of release it all did I didn't reboot all that day. This morning I started my PC with Windows 10 and the Studio Live Series 3. I have only WDM available and no audio getting to or from the PC. I have uninstalled - reinstalled over and over. I have tried cleaning up the registry. What the heck am I missing?. And why oh why for gods sake would you remove ASIO altogether?.

I am quite prepared to be made a dummy out of this, but at this point I can't see how :) BTW I only installed the Studio Live series 3 USB on UC do I need WinPcap for AVB?.

Help, please!!! been at this 7 hours now....

Cheers,

Tony

I am no specialist for drivers, but the "Using Your StudioLive Mixer as an Audio Interface with Universal Control and WDM Support" says in section 4: "The StudioLive mixers feature a built-in audio interface that can be used with any application that supports Core Audio or ASIO and can also be used as a WDM device for a Windows computer." There is more information available In section 5 "Enhanced WDM Support". The manual is available on the download pages of the Series III mixers.

Also, WDM settings are global settings, i.e. they apply to all WDM audio applications on your computer. The place where you set them is in UC. But ASIO settings can differ between apps. An app's ASIO settings are set from within the app, not from UC.
The settings you do want to keep the same across all apps (WDM and ASIO) are sample rate and bit depth, to avoid interface buffer issues.

Hi guys. Asio is completely gone, for me. The last time my PC was started I had all going. The only changes made were the firmware and UC. I’ve tried all I could find. I tried routing WDM 1/2 to tape as interface as not interface. I’ve redone back to factory firmware back to new. Can’t get a previous version of UC which I feel would have allowed me to roll with firmware 2.3x instead of 2.4. New UC would not allow install of 2.3x firmware, failed. I’m not a virgin at PCs and their foibals. I’m being reminded why OSX core audio rules. I just spent a small fortune but much less than price of a new cheese grater.,, I’m not giving up., I can’t :-/..

The 2.4 firmware update still has ASIO. In 2.4 they just added multiple WDM Ins and Outs. This all is installed with the UC installers.

What makes you think you do not have ASIO? Are you using a DAW like Studio One that would look for ASIO? (Windows only looks for WDM)

WDM1/2 was always available for Windows sounds and playback. The new firmware just adds more like 3/4, 5/6, I/O. Double-check your Window default I/O in Settings/System/Sound to make sure WDM 1/2 are the default and make sure to turn off mutually exclusive in Play and Record.

Output WDM 1/2, Input WDM 7/8

I have done everything as it says to do for WDM. Studio one 5.1.x cannot see ASIO, and cannot see WDM either. Well it sees it but gives an error. The interface basically is being seen only by windows. Yes. exclusive is off, and yes sample rates match. Trust me when I say I am totally stumped as to how it's happened!!. I had NO WDM prior to the 2.4 firmware upgrade. UC didn't show it, only had ASIO. Any other thoughts?.

To reiterate, I only upgraded and this is the result!. Everything was working 100% but no WDM before this.

Thank you for input still.

I got the other firmware, tried to go back to older, it will not successfully install off latest UC. If I could get previous version, reset to factory firmware again, maybe it would accept the older firmware, as it is now, it will not.

The older UC is NOT available off Presonus page. And just as I said that, I remembered I might have it on my laptop.. and I do.. !!!!!! I will report back if this idea works. It'll be tomorrow though now.

I use a Series III 24 on Windows 10 v20H2 with the latest UC and SIII firmware w/o issues.
Windows sound settings have StudioLive WDM 1/2 (StudioLive 24) as Output and Input.
Studio One has the StudioLive 24 audio device working fine.

Trucky will be able to troubleshoot for you or you will need to contact Support for your issue.

I was going to suggest a complete uninstall of UC, then run CCleaner on the registry until no error, and reinstall but Trucky will get you going.

That’s actually the first thing I did.. and then the rabbit hole began lol. It’s ok, I’ll try going back to factory then older UC and older firmware. If that doesn’t work then I’ll go with getting support. I’m on 20h2 windoze 10 btw too. It’s just really weird. Anyway, later after breakfast here in Merry Blighty!.

Thank you all :).

Update, reached out to Trucky. I have been able to get back to UC 3.30 and firmware 2.30. It all shows correctly again but I have no actual audio making it to mixer. Next is to check USB cable sockets. Windows audio shows a signal on test.

Cheers,

Tony

Further update. I have audio back up and running all ASIO only. There was no WDM in UC in 3.30 as I knew was the case. This of course raises the question of what has hooked itself to that USB 3 port I was using. That's for another day. I'm still not game to update to 3.4 UC or 2.4 firmware. I'll leave that for another time I think :). Thanks to @jpettit and @Trucky and others, I appreciate your thoughts. I had to go through what I was suspecting. Once I got an actual signal in Windows it had to be a cable or port.

I am guessing that a few functions of the mixer can and or are duplicated across the network attachment too.

Regards and thanks for now...

I've seen similar behavior and believe that the studiolive boards disable their ASIO interface when being used in WDM mode.

I too had the problem of ASIO not showing up but then realized that good ol Windows had decided to change the default audio device to my studiolive board. Once I switched Windows back to a different audio device the ASIO option was available in my software.

I use WDM 1/2 as my default Windows out, and ASIO as the Studio one driver. No issues.

Final update - At the time I did the updates clearly something went wrong with either the UC install and or the firmware. Going backwards did fix my issue. Yesterday in a mood of a little bit of patience, knowing I could roll back if needed, I did the update. This time around all is working as needed. I have ASIO, and Windows shows WDM 1/2 as interface. Very strange way, but it works, that's really all one can ask.

Also, a note the drivers definitely are a LOT more stable on my i9 system. Cubase continues to have some noises, but Studio One Pro 5.1.1 is working 100% best I can tell.

Once again, thank you for help and patience in this.

Tony
