Some people are finding some counter-intuitive behavior with the new track filters in Studio One 5.1, especially when used in projects with Folder tracks.

This video shows how you can make a set of macros that exhibit no such problems and can make a large template more manageable. The main trick is to use some older commands to force display of ALL folders (expanded or collapsed) instead of simply clearing the track filter. This is where macros come in handy (as shown below), but you can alternatively just make shortcuts for the two older commands and use those shortcuts to reset the visible track folders (and tracks).

The following three screenshots show how the macros were made.

Here's a video I did that gives an overview of these new features:

And here's another video showing the "Orchestral Template Tools" macro toolbar I created. Download links for some example macros are in the description. There's also the option to get the whole toolbar for a small donation but you don't actually need the whole toolbar to create your own - it's just for saving some time.

@jazzundso That approach for a huge orchestral template is very impressive!

Overall, this 5.1 enhancement is such a welcome addition to the S1 feature set. Big thanks to Gregor for tipping us off (in his 5.1 preview videos) to the new macro commands that enable creating macro toolbars like these. :punk:

For the price of a cup of coffee, the Orchestral Template Tools macro is a fantastic add on.
