Hi all
I use the virtual instrument GeoShred in my compositions. I get this into Studio One as audio by using a simple Y cable to connect my iPad to my audio interface - works great. When I use GeoShred with Garageband on my iPad, it records midi, which I can do basic edits to (quantising, note shifting etc). Is there a way to get midi information from GeoShred on my iPad into Studio One? Any workarounds?

Checked on a few forums. Possibly with the right leads and adaptors. The camera connection kit goes into the lightning connector and has a USB output. You could then connect a USB to midi interface there. And the Midi OUT from that into the Focusrite 616.
I am assuming the midi data can be sent out the camera adaptor. There is also another adaptor that goes into the lightening connector on the iPad and has both a USB and another lightning connector on it so power can be fed into the iPad while you are doing all this. I have got a 4th Gen iPad but in an Alesis iDock II. Midi comes out the MIDI OUT on the dock so it must be able to be sent.

By pure chance there is an entire article on MPE and Studio One 5 in the November edition of Sound on Sound, which I received digitally today. Although it doesn’t mention iPads and GeoShred, I don’t think what I am trying to do will be possible unfortunately.
