Heya everyone.,
I recently purchased a 24R as a interface/monitor desk for my home studio . Got it all hooked up, latest UC software and firmware up to date, plug a mic in, get signal showing up on channel 1 on UC surface but there is a very noticeable lag between audio input and meter ( almost 1 sec)...I thought this was taken care of when UC hit V3?, it really is annoying, i've tried lowering the 24R buffer setting to as low as 16 but makes no difference at all to the meter lag ?, There is also a lag when switching on a mute button, actually it would seem as the whole app is lagging 0.5-1 sec. I'm on Win 10 , intel i7 4.2Ghz , 32 gig ram, the PC is not the problem here, iv'e tried uninstalling UC, reinstalling 3 or 4 times, I've tried factory reset on the 24R then upgrade to latest firmware, nothing works....Can somebody please tell me what the hell I'm doing wrong???, driving me potty, the app should not exhibit behavior such as this?, surely....Heeeeeelp!!!!!..

Many thanks in advance
Jess.

There is a lag, but when using a USB connection it should not be so dramatic as you describe. The only thing you can do is open a ticket and ask Support for help, because there might be some things in Windows 10 or computer related subjects that influence metering and functions. Before that you should check the behavior of Capture (the metering should be very fast) and how UC Surface behaves on a tablet. This would complete the picture and help to give a more detailed description. And if you have another computer or laptop at hand, also try that. I suppose you have tried changing USB cables (not too long) and USB ports already. The buffer size is not relevant for UC Surface, because it's control only, no audio. But using 44.1 kHz can cause problems.

The lag only happens on the studio PC..I have tested it on another laptop and tablet both of these run fine. All this started happening after the latest Win 10 update (2004). I have had extensive com's with Presonus support and after many messages back and forth there was still no fix??. Basically it was left with " We will leave this up to our development team to look at in a future update", pretty frustrating as it is obviously a driver conflict happening somewhere in my system??.

It is obvious that the display lag has to do with computer configuration, but no details are known. There is no "official" statement from PreSonus about it. Nothing in Knowledge Base or Technical Articles or Answers - just silence. I have read about the problem several times and I also don't think that what I see on my laptop (i5 / Win 10) is what I would want to see, so the only way of getting some attention is to bring this to the platform where PreSonus (people/employees of PreSonus) is looking and reacting. It's not the Forum, it's not Answers, it's the official PreSonus Facebook group:

Yes you can. Don't use quick reply, use the normal posting option. There is an upload attachment.

Zip or 7z compression formats have been around since the 90's. You can attach a compressed version of it.

The 24R is hooked up to my PC via USB. The unit plugs into a Startek 4 port USB3 PCIe card. Each port on the PCIe card has it's own controller chip, The 24R will not function correctly in any other USB port on the PC, It crackles and distorts, but plugged into the Startek card, on it's own highway to the CPU it sounds perfect.
