Crashes during a given process?

To get help on the forum, we need more info. Specs of your system would be a good start :)

It crashes during a give process and sometiems it crashes on loading. I dont know what it is. Maybe it has something to do with some plugins.
Logic and reason runs perfect, but s1 keeps crashing.

Add that to your signature I suggest.

You really need to give full and specific steps to repro and the exact error message and symptoms. Even better screenshots, videos and whatever. I would also create a new thread so the discussion can continue here undisturbed. I don't see too many Mac crashing threads so it's likely to be with your system or specific project file, or maybe a plugin has gone belly up. It needs troubleshooting even if you have found a bug.

Just because it may have happened upon an update does not rule out an issue elsewhere. The issue may have always existed, it's just that the update made it bubble up to the surface.

Hello!
I can't comment on the previous poster, but since I installed the 4.6.1 update, I have been having multiple crashes (Stusio One will shut down) when I bounce a track (changing track from Stereo to Mono and bouncing selection). This doesn't happen with every track bounce, but enough to increase my process time per song by a significant amount! Also, when the bounce does work, sometimes it may take about 3+ minutes (on a 3 minute song).

Also, I spent about an hour uninstalling and then reinstalling the drivers for my Behringer UMC202HD audio interface (which had been working fine before the update).

Please give us exact steps to try to reproduce your issue.
Also, try your process on a new song with now plugs to see if that works.
Then start adding the plugs you use one at a time to see if you can find the culprit.

Bdb,

Don't know if your post was directed at my issue, but:

Every Song is new

I'm bringing in stereo wav audio tracks that I use in a Live Performance set up in Cantablie 3 (Live Host Software)

I rename the Tracks in the New Studio One Song

I click the Stero/Mono icon and then Bounce the selection to Mono (the 1st track that I do will take between 30 seconds to 3 minutes)

After using this procedure for 4 or 5 tracks, Studio On will close

This error will repeat, without fail, for each New song that I create.

Thanks for that.
I recommend that you re-install S1 in a new folder so you can keep what you have intact.
Download it from your Presonus account.
Try this on a new song with no plugins.
Also, make sure your audio device drivers are all good. Check your anti-virus software as well.
I have not heard of this kind of issue. It has to be something on your side but finding that can be rough.

Check windows event viewer (Google how if not sure) if Studio One exits unexpectedly and then copy/paste full error. It's easier to find it if you take note of the time it happens.

Edit - sorry it's Mac, not my expertise, there should be some similar log around. Update your audio interface drivers and firmware.

Thank you! :+1

I found the information in the Event Viewer and will start a Ticket with PreSonus.

You can install any updates and upgrades to a secondary folder so you can have both versions available, and therefore, you can switch back really easily if you have any issues. I have done this with all versions of Studio One going back to v.2.6.

Since installing 4.6.1 (PC), Alchemy no longer works at all, and any projects that used it crash when trying to open the project.

Alchemy is no longer supported by the developers standalone. It comes bundled with Logic.

Try removing and reinstalling alchemy (latest version). Otherwise exact error messages are in the windows event viewer and more info is required on steps to repro/crash behaviour/windows versions/plugin versions/64 or 32 bit. Better off creating a new thread I suggest and maybe there is something that can be done, ultimately it's an unsupported plugin.

Yeah I realise that, that's what worries me :( I've used it for many years on a lot of different projects, and this latest S1 update just broke it.

I'll try contacting Presonus support.

I doubt that can help beyond what I've already said. They don't make or support this plugin. Have you tried what I suggested? And more info is required as I suggested.

The last update caused a lot of crashing problems for others and myself in different areas.
I followed a previous recommendation and did the following....

**An application settings refresh may help to settle things down a bit so please give that a try...

Go to Help>Open Settings folder.

Copy the contents of the folder over to a new folder on your desktop.

Close S1 and delete the contents of the settings folder with the exception of the user.license file as well as the "Extensions" folder.

Open S1 and go to Studio One>Options (Preferences on a Mac) to reconfigure your settings.**

Had to redo all the settings (didn't take long) but when comparing the new folder to the old one, I found a lot of old files that shouldn't of probably still been there. Now studio one runs like silk again. Noticed there was a license file folder in the old that I didn't need either. Maybe S1 is putting them somewhere else now because I had to redownload a license file and it worked but never put a "Liscense Folder" back in the settings folder.
I don't know if it's just me but the graphics seem to look a lot better too. It was worth the small effort. Tested everything I could including waves 11 (Which some believed to be the culprit) and everything works fine again. If you've been through a few versions of Studio One, I would do this even if you think you don't have problems yet.

New user here.
I was looking for a printed version of the reference manual, but on finding them online saw a review that said that the pages didn't match the Table of Contents, and neither did the index.

Thinking it might of been a printing error, I downloaded the Studio One reference V 4.6 manual PDF and was sorry to find that the situation still exists with the latest version.

Not one to be deterred, I decided to fix it, as it the Reference Manual that is.
I bought a PDF editor, and have spent the last day and a half sorting out that dogs breakfast of a manual....what a mess.
[Tip for whoever writes the manual, the Face page and any other pages that are before the actual start of the book;íe 'The Introduction' should be numbered with Roman Numerals....I think not doing that is why it got and stayed out of whack.]
My limited PDF editor didn't have this option [Needs ACROBAT PRO [ so I sorted it as best I could.

Anyway I've sorted it out so that the manual is now printable., and I've just loaded the edited PDF to a newly made Dropbox account, of which I will post the link so it's available to anybody that wants it. :reading:

The changes I've made are listed below.

All even number pages are on the Left and odd on the Right., all pages have now been numbered.[they weren't before]
The Blank spacing pages [that were also put in the wrong places] have been sorted, and I remove the text from them and replaced it with a suitable image for the chapter it would be facing. ;) [When browsing for suitable images I came across the one I put on p36, with my sense of humor I couldn't resist, as the page opposite talks about high tech 64 bit Studio One is.

The Table of Contents has also been fixed so it now shows Chapters,[ which strangely it didn't before]
I also added AMPIRE to the table of contents [there was no mention of it before]

All new Chapters start on the Right hand side, and I have placed a large Chapter number at the top right of the page.

The index has been fixed to the new page numbering.

Hopefully the Dropbox link works [I've never used it before, much like the PDF editor  ]

Hope you find this useful

Thanks for your work! Is there a way all the text can be properly black rather than dark grey.
