ok let me ask this way friends.......is there a way i can boost the input gain for a shure sm 7b other than the input gain knob on the channel?? since i cant get enuff level into the aux monitor mix for the headphone amp?? i use st one v4 but i am monitoring thru the sl16 due to latency issues.....do i need an extra preamp before the console??

If you aren't getting enough gain with a SM7B on Series 3, then it's the wrong mic for your source. I have NEVER needed a CloudLifter. Ever.

But then you may have access to some very low-noise outboard preamps to replace the Series III preamps.
Simple fact is that the SM7B is less sensitive than most other dynamic vocal mics (e.g. some 5dB less than an SM58, and that’s a live-and-loud mic!). So you may have to turn up the Series III preamp more that you would like. A good quality in-line booster amp like the Cloudlifter can solve that. |
