After listening to Patrick81's beautiful acoustic instrumental I remembered that I had an acoustic instrumental that I never shared here.

Not sure if I would call it "Classical" but to me it has sort of a "Spanish" sound to it.

Any way here it is. It's not perfect, had a little fret buzzing in a couple spots but it's what I ended up with.

Recorded this into Studio One 2 with an MXL 990

What... you performed this on a steel stringed guitar?
Isn't that near sacrilege to not to use a nylon stringed guitar for this genre?

But really... good for you... I always prefer a steel string. ;)
That's a really clean recording... if it were me, I wouldn't be able to resist adding some effects. 8-)

I don’t think I’ve ever played a nylon string guitar.

My only acoustic had Steele strings so that’s what I used for this.

It is a rather bare recording. I don’t think I added much of anything other than EQ, Compression & Maybe some reverb. Also resisted doing any double tracking which almost always do.

I wish I had some better mic’s at the time. That guitar sounds better than the recording.

Thanks for the listen. I hope no one is offended by the steel strings

Absolutely fantastic. I don't know the genre very well but parts reminded me of Steve Howe.

Wonderfully played and recorded. Thanks for sharing.

cwestmont,

Thank you for listening and commenting. I'm glad you liked it.

I don't know the genre very well myself. I really don't know what genre this would fall under except for "Acoustic Instrumental"

I really kind of dislike having to try and place my music into a so called "genre". Not sure why everything must be "Labeled" this kind of music or that kind of music? I suppose it does make it easier for listeners to find similar sounding songs if they like a certain style though.

Just my two cents.

Word :+1

So i really enjoyed your little spanish trip on your steel stringed guitar, especially since i did not expect such an acoustic tune from you - a nice surprise, as i love the diversity of music.

Thank you Oliver P,

Glad it was enjoyable.

I love the sound of an acoustic guitar. I don't play mine nearly enough. I like a lot of different kinds of music, although I can understand your being surprised as most everything I've posted to date has been a bit more rock guitar oriented.

Again thanks for listening and commenting.

Great piece. I think the recording sounds really good, too.
Also, I think it's cool that you used steel strings for this- I have a hard time imagining that nylon strings would sound better. Who cares what common "wisdom" is.
It's also cool that you did something outside of your usual. Doing that can only enhance your playing (which is great, by the way).

Very nice and well done. Makes me think of the intro to Roundabout by Yes.

Sir monkey & miked7,

Thanks for listening and commenting.

The Steele versus nylon string thing never occurred to me. I like classical and Spanish guitar but don’t claim to be able to play either of those styles.

Some of my favorite guitarists had acoustic instrumentals on their albums, so this was just my version of an acoustic instrumental .
