SL24s3, NSB 16 and 8 (latest firmware). Second time using NSBs both times had AVB dropouts for approx. 1/2 second at various times on both inputs and outputs.
Use new pro audio cat6 cable with ethercon type connectors (100' and 20') 1st time in use was using cat5 cable had same problem, changed to new high quality cat6. Clean AC power Anyone else seen this AVB dropout signal problem? ** PreSonus replaced both NSB (16, 8) this resolved the AVB drops **

You said you're using the latest version but please identify which versions are installed for the following:
Universal Control Series III 24 NSB 16.8 NSB 8.8 How are these connected (please describe)? Also what brand (include product ID/specs) of network cables are you using?
PLEASE ADD YOUR SYSTEM SPECS TO YOUR SIGNATURE.

I had the exact same situation a couple nights ago and I too have the latest firmware and revisions. I have the SL32, sl32r and the nsb 16:8. So only 16 of my channels are going through the nsb but the drop outs were coming from the mains. I was doing some investigating and I realized my cat 5e/6 cables were iterally moving inside the port and causing a short. So basically, every time the subs hit, the cat 5e/6 cable from my rack mixer to my console would vibrate and I would have that brief pause as u described. Having said that, I have the locking cat 5e cables on order now so I'm hoping this fixes the problem.

For anyone else landing here, before you go the support route. The avb clocking for these systems comes in via output streams. If you do not have an output stream assigned to the nsb, clocking drop outs will happen. Something simple to try first.

Matt you just saved me some major frustration. New 32SC and NSB8's. (own the legacy 16.4.2 and 24.4.2 and now upgrading after keeping same MacBook, iPad, router and software....if not broke why fix?) But love the Cat 5/6 networking.
I am testing it and rehearsing with it at my home studio and having the constant drop out on the NSBs. Leave in two days for a big conference and was starting to think I would be bringing the monster snake with me. You are right assigned outputs and fixed. WOW thank you!! Thank you Goole too. LOL |
