Hell yea!

I love me some funk rock. Great guitar playing, I really like the tone. It has a nice "live in a small club" sound to it. What guitar, amp & wah are you using? The wide spread bass Synth is bad-ass. Very funky cool. The horns are cool too, nice touch and well played. Almost everything a funk rock track needs. Only thing missing is a few soulful female backup singers thrown in a few places.

The guitar is a Fender Strat made during the 60th Anniversary Year.
It has the Lone Star loaded pickguard with 2 Texas Special single coils and a Pearly Gates humbucker in the bridge position. The amp is a Mesa Boogie Mark 5/35. Probably the best amp I have ever owned - and I've owned a lot of good ones. The wah is on a Boss ME-50 pedal.
I don't usually use the the amp models or effects on it - mostly volume/ wah.
I do uses a rack mounted Lexicon for some delays and effects.
I switched over to Studio One over a year ago from Cakewalk Sonar.
I am still amazed at the new things I keep finding in this studio.
I think the move was one of the best things I've done to improve my creativity and recordings.

When I think of vocals I hear some "Low Rider" or Sly type of vocals. Maybe I'll come up with something later..

No wonder I liked the guitar tone. I'm a big fan of Stratocasters with humbuckers in the bridge. That's practically all I ever use. To me it's the perfect guitar.

Also a big fan of Mesa Boogie. I have a couple Dyna-Watt 20/20 Mesa Power Amps that I just love. Those little things really pack a punch.

That Boss has a good Wah sound.. I'm surprised to hear that's what you used. Can't wait to hear this sounds like with vocals if you decide to go that route. I think it is pretty good as is though.

I love the guitar. It's the 1st Strat I ever had with a humbucker. It's a nice combination.
I've always been a fan of Pearly Gates pickup.
I installed one in a Les Paul gold top and it sounds great.
My last Mesa was a Stiletto. Great tone but too much volume.
I traded it for the Mark 5/35. That's a keeper for me.
It has everything I need including an old school reverb tank!

What kind of mic or mic’s do you use to record guitar? Iis there a particular mic technique you find works best?

Actually I don't use mic's very much anymore. I've been recording direct ever since I got the Mark 5.
There is a low impedance out on the Mark 5 that combines the cab clone (closed back or vintage) with an attenuator. If I'm recording late at night I can turn off the speaker cabinet and monitor everything on headphones.The amp is always plugged into channel 1 on my interface so once I fire up the amp and get S1 up and running I can hit record and go. I also like the fact that I don't have to worry about unintended sounds ruining a good take. I live in New England and radiators hiss and bang and make all kinds of noise. When I have used mic's I use a Sure SM57 or SM58.

I also made the switch from SONAR to S1, and I have to say I wish I had done it sooner. The main difference to me is the workflow, it just seems much more intuitive.

I bought a 25 key Nektar keyboard to use as a master controller to be able to explore the cool sounds available in Presence XT. I am amazed at the quality of the instruments that are included
with S1. The inspiration for the song started with the clavinet and built from there.
The sax sound I found in Presence XT also. I used the Nektar keyboard and used the pitch bend roller to slide into the notes on the sax.
I'm really glad I switched to S1 after Cakewalk crashed and burned. I had been using Cakewalk products for over 20 years. I have no regrets switching to S1. I bought the Faderport 8 to add to my studio and love it.I think it's the best my studio has ever been.
