I free recorded a song in S1-4 that is a constant 160BPM. The grid tempo was at 185BPM during recording.

I have MIDI drums captured live via an electronic kit. The rest are audio tracks -bass, gtrs, vox.

I need to fix timing issues and would like to get the grid to match the song tempo without changing the pitch of the audio tracks.

I've set the audio tracks to not follow tempo, set track tempos to "not set" and unclicked stretch audio in song setup but when I reduce tempo the pitch still drops.

I've watched some videos, searched the questions and messed with it a bit with no luck. I just can't seem to get my head around it.

I'd appreciate some help getting this sorted.

Thanks!

Seems like you could create a song @ 160bpm then drop the audio files into it.

I forget how to do the midi, not at my computer.

You need search google for studio one tempo maps

For the free-recorded track open the track inspector and change 185bpm to 160bpm, then set the track to timestretch.

Set the song tempo (bottom screen/tempo track) to 160bpm too to have everything, including the midi tracks, play at that tempo.

For the other audio tracks you can do the same: enter the tempo they were played at in the track inspector, and set the tracks to time stretch.

Note that you can refine the timestretch performance by changing the type of content in the track inspector (default ‘drums’) to whatever applies.

NB. None of these settings will change pitch. If the pitch is incorrect then it was either played that way, or the sample rate in the files headers doesn’t match the recording sample rate of those tracks, e.g. 44.1kHz iso. 48kHz.

Setting audio tracks to timebase seconds - and they will never be stretched when tempo track is changing.
Otherwise they will either be pushed as event start position is move, or if stretch stuff enabled - also entirely stretched.

You can do the same with midi - if free recorded and are to be matched later fixing up tempo track to fit what is recorded.

So I'd say, set it all to timebase seconds, fix up tempo track, then you can switch to bars again if you like.

If read OP correctly what you ask for....

These tuts should be helpful

I was going for that for a while - to fight it - but saw the eminence in how Presonus implemented these matching features - and turned on that. :)
