I import a lot of mp3 files everyday. Studio One is very slow at that. What I do is I convert my MP3s to WAVs before importing. I use a free converter. bleep? Free converter does it A WAY FASTER than a super hi-end DAW? This is RIDICULOUS!

How fast do you expect it to go? I just converted 113 mp3 files in under a 1:20. It'll take me 10 seconds to convert 16 mp3 files.

WOW! My Mac is more powerfull, but it takes WAY MORE time to import an MP3 ((((
Hope I'll find the reason.

Maybe it could be your external hardrives.

WELL, now try to make a 48 kHz project) and import 41 kHz MP3 there) you'll see the difference.

You want me to import 44.1kHz mp3s into a 48khz session? I'll do that right now.

Ok, so yeah, importing the same 113 44.1 khz mp3s into a 48khz session will take me an hour. To remedy that problem, I'll just import the samples into a 44.1 khz session then after you finishing importing, change the sample rate to 48 khz.

Yeah, you can always change ample rate of a song later. But anyway the fact is: S1 is very slow at converting between different sample rates. It can't import things in background (like Pro Tools).

This is a bug, if you decrease the window of S1 the import will go faster. The smaller the window, the faster the import will go...
