No, the NSB's are digital stageboxes with preamps for network purposes and AVB switch. There is no WiFi on board and there is no sound processing possible.

You will need to invest in a 32R, 24R or 16R rack mixer. A 16R costs less than a NSB 16.8...

The NSBs do of course have everything onboard to make them a great onstage soundcard/interface. Maybe someday...?

They lack DSP, therefore no 'mixing' capabilities are possible.

Sure, no standard audio interface has.

What I’m suggesting is a combination of one or more stage boxes plus an AVB capable computer running a DAW like StudioOne. That would put the I/O in the live room / on stage and the recording/processing in the control room.

The StageBoxes have the necessary remote-controllable mic preamps, A/D-converters, D/A-converters and line outputs, and they’re talking AVB to the Series III mixers. It almost seems ‘just’ a matter of firmware to make them talk directly to an AVB capable computer too.

But hey, I can be completely wrong. The NSBs may lack the brain power to ever talk to anything other than a Series III mixer. Would be a pity though as I can’t think of a sturdier ‘floor interface’ than the NSBs :)
