Designed exclusively for StudioLive™-series mixers, Capture allows instant setup and recording directly from the mixer with no configuration.

Thanks - so that's a firm 'no' for Capture.
I am considering getting a used Firebox for multiple purposes, including standalone mic preamp (and phantom source). I read that it can record into Cubase, which I don't use, so I'm wondering if I'd be able to record into Audacity.
Incidentally, I asked about Capture as I have a PreSonus 1602 which sort of lives at my drummer's house. Thought maybe I could use Firebox at home for recording a track or two.
Appreciate your thoughts.

The Firebox is a good unit and yes, you can record with it into Audacity or most any other DAW.
That being said, if you have a 1602 you should perhaps consider a Firestudio Mobile instead of the Firebox. The FSM can be daisy chained with the 1602 for additional input channels.....the Firebox cannot.
