So, I've had this problem for a while, and suspect it is either caused by:
The Problem The mic is REALLY quiet. When recording audio in Studio One. As in, I crank the preDB up to 60, scream into the mic, and you can barely hear the audio recording. Troubleshooting I've tried 3 different mics, 5 different cables, and have switched between mic-1 and mic-2 ports. The same problem persists everywhere. I've unplugged everything but Studio192. Sometimes, when I turn my machine on, the mic works great. Then, for whatever reason, it goes into this funky state. Not sure how to resolve it. Specs: Windows 10, Intel i7 CPU, 16GB RAM. I'm pulling my hair out on this. Any thoughts? |
One of the mics that I've tested with is the ES-58-S. I borrowed a few more other non-condenser mics from musician friends, still to no avail.
Also forgot to mention: Plugged in a few electric guitars and also had no volume. A kludgy hack is to turn on the compressor, and crank the gain up 100%, and then I get sound maybe upwards of 40%. |
