Suggestion to Presonus:

Since your marketing department seems to be having fun teasing us with the release of Studio One 4... here's my suggestion: so now we know that it MUST be Studio One 4 on May 22, maybe you could start teasing us about what *features* you are going to announce? Maybe add a little clue here and there to the Facebook and Youtube graphics, like you just added the Studio One logo and the colored four dots?

I like that idea!

As you said, this is definitely Studio One v4. We know that now. What we need moving forward until the live stream are some hints about what’s coming, agreed. But I think they should make it super cryptic in order to possibly spring wild speculations. That could be fun, lol.

The cryptic idea sounds fun! Now will Presonus come out and play? :D

That's be quite the hype for .1 incremental release, even if that .1 included ARA2. Also, we've seen lots of evidence elsewhere that Studio One 4 is actively being tested. It's 4.0.

AMD Ryzen 3950X, ASUS Creator x570 Mobo, 32GB HyperX Predator RAM (3600mhz), Radeon™ RX 5500 XT 4GB GDDR6 graphics card, RME Fireface 800, Windows 10 Pro, Studio One 5, Reaper 6, Cubase 10.5, Avid Artist Mix (EuCon please), Behringer X-Touch One, MIDI Fighter Twister, various other MIDI control surfaces and hardware instruments

What hype? One little picture?

I think it's too early for V4.0, there's still much room to improve V3. Even if V4 is in beta testing it doesn't mean it's going to be released now.

So you acknowledge that they're beta testing 4.0 but you still think that at the same time, they're still putting development resources into 3.6 while also doing this huge hype train for .1 incremental update? That actually seems more likely to you than the idea that the 4.0 beta that's currently taking place is complete and they're doing this hype as part of the release? Occam's razor (the simplest/most-likely explanation is usually correct) is telling me it's 4.0. At this point, I'd wager on it and I'm not a betting man.

It is definitely version 4.0 and the new interface is lime green as they are now targeting artsy vegetarians for this particular release. There is also a new synth called Mango.

I'm not lying. Honestly.

Studio One Pro (v5) on i7 7700 win10 PC w16GB RAM and a Mac Pro Tower (w/RME & Focusrite interfaces.)

I use S1 as an author/musician/multi-media artist.
My work includes the newly released: Clearing a Path to Joy (And finding contentment along the way) [AuroraSkyPublishing.com]
and my upcoming music video, Too Big To Fail, which introduces Citizen Based Social Planning — "the next step in the evolution of democracy." You know...typical everyday stuff. :)

This is clearly false. Or incomplete information. If they were looking to target artsy vegetarians, they clearly would've gone with avocado.

Actually, they did go with Avacado — Facebook celebrity, David Avacodo Wolfe, to be exact.

Now, instead of hawking extensions from the live news feed, Mr. Avacado will be selling his premiere, exclusive, higher consciousness smoothies and other assorted new age foodie items. We will also be getting 50% GAIA memberships.

[The song "If I had a hammer" is looping as background music inside my head. Wonder why...]

It is rumored to be shipping with completed hit songs that, with slight modification, can be sold as one's own artistic self-expression. Imagine, no more slaving over a hot riff for hours and hours.

Mmm... a hot riff with chilli sauce and fries - life doesn't get much better! Stick your v4, I'm lighting the BBQ.....

Windows 10 Pro/i7 6800k @3.4Ghz/16Gb ram. Studio One 6 Pro, Melodyne Editor, Vocalign Project 5, Superior Drummer 3, Izotope Music Production Suite 6, Komplete 13 and various other plugins. Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, Faderport, Focal Alpha 50's, Korg Pa3x, Korg Pad Kontrol, numerous guitars, basses & other antiquated outboard gear.
Maybe one day I'll actually finish a project!

Hasn't that already been happening for the past 2 decades?

ahh..but I digress. To stay on the already loose topic, I think the marketing department at Presonus is having a good chuckle watching their minions scurry about and try to guess the latest offering. And why not? We do give them plenty to be entertained by.

I'm sure they enjoy tossing out teasers.....smugly watching because they know that regardless of what new gadgets are included... 99% of their customers will happily fork over another $100 for the next major release. Even though it doesn't resolve anything that they've been complaining about. They will upgrade just because it is new. Microsoft has conditioned us to be that way. And if it's not quite ready for prime-time, eh... whatever. We've been conditioned to just skip the dot.zero release and get excited about the first bug-fix release. As long as the release date was met, somebody gets their bonus...and we get something new to look forward to.

Bitter? No, just weary of the upgrade merry-go-round. I'm still waiting for resolutions from the version 2 days. And even though my concerns won't be met (again), I'll be forced to upgrade because at least one of my clients will... and the .song file format will change *just enough* that I'll have to upgrade just to read incoming work. That's part of *my* expectations.

It's tough because at the end of the day, it's all about the music. Or, at least it's *supposed* to be about the music. Are all these things really helping us create better music? A few minutes listening to a nightclub's jukebox or the local radio station will illuminate. Forgive me if I'm not as excited as some... I guess I'm just reminiscing about the old days, when musicians played instruments and vocalists sang.

Carry on. Nothing to see here. :)

They have done it before:

07 Nov 2011 - Studio One 1.6.5
18 Jan 2012 - Studio One 2.0.2

06 Jul 2015 - Studio One 2.6.5
19 Aug 2015 - Studio One 3.0.1

So yeah, I still bet it's 3.6 or 3.6.5.
