Well, so far, so good for my set-up.

Booting and scanning have gone well.
Even, some of the past offenders, like EZ/Superior drummers have run fine. (These, and a few others have required me to re-authorize, when I opened them following a Windows "update".)

I haven't had a chance to sit down and dig deeper into things but, looking good.
In spite of the past with these updates, so far . . . . so good. Whew!!

The point is, that after the Cretors Fall update, the activation suddenly is'nt remembered like it allways have done.
Every time i open my PC and try to run Studio One, then i have to run Studio Ones activation process, even if i have done it before. I can use the activation - but only untill next time i open my PC and Studio One. So Studio One is being activated, but the activation code apparantly is'nt remembered.

And as i wrote earlier (that apparantly has'nt been understood), then when i have used my 5 S1 activations, then i also need to remove activations from my Presonus account to be able to activate S1 again, as it's not possible to activate if you have 5 activation allready.

But off course the activation code shall be remembered, so i don't have to run the activation process every time i open my PC and S1. That's the issue to focus on. Why is'nt the code remembered when S1 has been activated, just like it did before the Windows 10 creators fall update?

All things and settings in Windows and security, firewall and everything else is off coarse the same that have worked before.

@Skaberverket. Not all are having this issue.

I PM you Skip.

I can tell i also have tried to run the S1 installer now. But the issue remain the same.

I have the same problem, told support about it hoping it'd be resolved with the 3.5.3 update (nope).

It's not a deal breaker but it is annoying.

There is nothing to fix for the 3.5.3 because it is on windows side.
I just wrote the following in the release thread:

there is a fix out there from Microsoft since some weeks. Please update, it helped another user to fix this restart issue. I just have this german link here, sorry, but it should be the same in english. Important is the KB number of this fix.

Thanks, Ari. Not an issue here. The link provided is in German but clicking on "Translate" easily converts it into English. Good to know.

Skaperverket wroteFor the time being, is it for S1 users recommended not updating Windows to the Fall Creators update (1709)?

As I have understood, Windows can be quite "insisting" when it comes to updates, so advice could be helpful.

P.S.: Contemplating switching from Mac to Windows next month, so my questions aren't just rethorical. Thanks.

My personal experience wasn't great, but more inconvenient. The only thing that seemed to get hosed on my machine were USB drivers, which a re-install fixed.

And yes, they are persistent about the user updates. For the record, I have Win 10 Pro. Not sure if that has any effect on my lack (so far) of issues. And I mainly work with audio, so that may be why also.

Hi,

I'm new to this forum.
I have the same activation issue on my system. I installed S1 first time at the first days of december. Fall creator's Update installed weeks ago.
Whenever I restart my system, S1 needs a new online activation. That's annoying.
Any information available meanwhile?

Greets

Cheers 8-)

Those not on Pro should consider getting Pro.

For an easier ride those on Pro should use Windows Update for Business branch:
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/pureinfo ... dates/amp/

Intel i9 9900K (Gigabyte Z390 DESIGNARE motherboard), 32GB RAM, EVGA Geforce 1070 (Nvidia drivers).
Dell Inspiron 7591 (2 in 1) 16Gb.
Studio One Pro 6.x, Windows 11 Pro 64 bit, also running it on Mac OS Catalina via dual boot (experimental).
Presonus Quantum 2626, Presonus Studio 26c, Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, Faderport Classic (1.45), Atom SQ, Atom Pad, Maschine Studio, Octapad SPD-30, Roland A300, a number of hardware synths.

I have the same problem, Studio one thinks my computer is a different machine after every boot... it started after the creators update. I formatted and reinstalled several times and It seems to be aggravated by activating the airplane mode feature (to shut off wifi to help with dpc latency). Can anyone help? What do we need to do so that the machine id stops changing on every boot?

vincentmillar wroteAnd I am ln Windows 10 Pro, so going Pro is not a solution either.

Pro isn't the solution but it helps avoid the issues like this assuming you've configured it as I've explained.

Another way to avoid this scenario is to regularly backup with something Acronis True Image, then you can roll back and defer updates further using a similar method.

None of this is probably going to help you now.

For me I won't be installing this update for at least six months and only when I'm certain it's mature and everything is backed up.

Hi PreAl, I realized after I posted that you were referring to Pro being able to push back updates so I deleted my second post.

I too am unable to install the windows update suggested by Ari to supposedly fix the problem

Cool.
I'll leave my comment there anyway as I think the vast majority of Windows users are unaware the facility exists. I think if people are running a DAW on Windows 10 and they are serious about it this strategy is essential. May require upgrading to Pro and getting Acronis True Image (and a hard drive to back up to).

Cheers.

Eureka ! After re-installing, yet again... I have pinpointed the exact cause of my issue. I thought it was airplane mode, which I was using to turn off Wifi and Bluetooth to help with DPC Latency, but more specifically, it is de-activating Bluetooth that starts the cycle or Presonus seeing my computer as a new machine on every boot. Turnig Bluetooth on doesn't solve the issue unfortunately, the only solution I have found is re-installing windows and NEVER touching the Bluetooth on/off switch or Airplane mode on/off switch. Wifi on off does not do any harm on my system

Perhaps update your Bluetooth drivers. Assuming your machine is Intel I suggest a visit to:

Thanks PreAl, it’s a Dell from 2011 with an Intel Bluetooth adapter. As far as all my research has shown, I have the latest driver

Whatever you want however I suggest it's worth a go with that link and doing a scan with the Intel utility, it may surprise you what's not up to date. Often the vendor (Dell) shows outdated drivers on their website or utility application.

You don't need to install the drivers if you don't want to. Always back up of course. Another thing if your Bluetooth is onboard is to consider a BIOS update. Thx.
