Technically yes, BUT the ADA800's pres are not quite as good as the 1818VSL's or D8's. Several guys using this combo have said when recording 16 simultaneous tracks with this rig they'll use the ADA's pres for less critical tracks like drums.

if i bought an 1818vsl, and a digimax d8, would i have an option to later use a 2nd digimax d8 to give me 24 channels?

No. 18 channels max. You would want to look at the Studio 192, which can take up to 2 8 channel adat pres, and an addiotiuonal 2 channels spdif for 26 total. Also has up to 32 outputs, speaker management, talkback, and fat channel processing on the 8 analog ins of the 192.

All indications are that it hits the street soon.

Another benefit is remote control of the mic pres through S1 V3.

Hello,
How would I add a blue tube dp as an additional input ? If this is possible can 2 blue tube dp units be added as 2 additional channels?
Thank you

Sorry, but no. There are no separate line inputs for a BlueTube. Expansion of inputs for the 1818 can only happen via spdif (2 ins) or adat (8 ins).

I used 2, indeed one as ADAT to the other and it worked fine. The mixer nicely shows the additonal ADAT channels from the second box, performance no problem.

The one issue which makes it a hassle is indeed that you have to connect each box to a separate PC. If you connect them to the same PC the sampling goes wild and you get funny digital noise.
My guess is this has to do with the design of the drivers on windows and actually could be remediated if there would be a dummy driver for the box that is in adat mode.

If there is anyone out there from PreSonus who could help? Because using 2 PCs really does not make this practical.

The end model could be then to have 2 boxes on one PC, use Teamviewer to share the Mixer to an Android Tablet (as there is only IOS tablet version) and there we go, we have a 18 channel mixer with remote control.

Nope.

If you want "the answer" my son you must first ask a question. That being said
we can help you better now and in the future with a bit more info......if you will post your system specs in your signature, (see my sig), we will be better able to troubleshoot your problems. Without knowing what type of pc you're running, what OS you're using, what DAW etc....we often can't recommend a "simple fix"

If you have not already done so please READ THE MANUAL!

Hi everyone,

I'm having some trouble getting ADAT and SPDIF to work. I just bought a ART tube opto 8 to add 8 channels. Hooked it up via optical and worked imidiately. 16 channels no problem. I added and ART digital MPA to use SPDIF, and it isn't showing up. In studio 3, it shows the input is active, but no sound. Any ideas?

The MPA has switch selectable digital outs......have you made sure the switch is set to SPDIF and not ADAT out?
