Hi all....i built a new gaming machine that will (hopefully) double as my recording rig. I don't have slots to add a FIreWire card but have plenty of USB-3 and USB 3c slots.

Is there a way to go from Firewire to USB3 on 2 daisy chained FS Projects, using Windows 10?

Hoping there is a solution Thanks all.

Sorry, but no. There are such adapters out there, but they do not work for audio streaming applications like recording. The only other alternative is a fw to thunderbolt adapter, which works quite well. That doesn't solve your problem if you do not have the space to add a card.

Thanks a bunch for the reply. What a fricken bummer as I really wanted the best of both worlds. The video card is key for gaming and was hoping for the best.

Follow up question...... I need at least 8 inputs for my drums and another 2 for misc stuff. I guess I could sell the 2 FS Projects and upgrade to the Studio 192 right?

Thank you

You could, but for 10 tracks (simultaneous tracking) you would need a preamp with SPDIF output. Otherwise, you could expand the 192 with an ADAT preamp, such as the DP88. You would have control of both the 192 and DP 88 from within Studio One.

What about getting a new Motherboard with more room for a FW card?

That seems like the cheapest option, plus you get to choose a better Mobo.

I have two FSP's and absolutely love em.

You nailed it!! I didn't want to have to rebuild, but it's the only option and you nailed it. I picked up a Gigabyte LGA1151 Intel Z170. I also really like the dual gig NIC's option. Thanks again for the reply.

Got everything running, except firwire card. Running a Vantec ugt-fw210 which is a supported chipset. Just cant get it to work VERY frustrating

Going to pay the incredibly high $56 ( extortion) price for a card that Presonus engineers say 100% works. So we'll see. Friday is another day.
