How do you get a Faderport to work in Logic?

I've had a Faderport Classic working with Logic for many months but all of a sudden it's stopped.

- Mac Pro 64GB RAM
- OS X 10.12.6
- Logic 10.4.2
- Faderport Classic - Firmware 1.0

1. ... c-X-Setup- ... /210040213
The first page links to the second page for native support, and states the Faderport should auto-appear under Control Surfaces in Logic. Mine doesn't.

2. ... /210040203
The first page links to the second which displays the Universal Control 2.9.2 installer software. I've:
- Removed the logic cs pref file
- Downloaded the Universal Control installer
- Run the uninstaller
- Restarted
- Run the Universal Control installer
- Restarted again
- Launched Logic

But it still doesn't show in Logic (it obviously shows in Universal Control and Audio/MIDI).

3. ... /210040203
This page mentions that if the Faderport doesn't show automatically, add it manually. But 'Presonus Faderport' doesn't show in the list of available devices to add.

4. ... FaderPort-
The page 'Where can I find the update for my FaderPort Classic?' was updated July 11th 2018 but I can't see any download links. Is this a stray page or am I missing something basic here?

I've tried everything several times over and have also tried a second Faderport but no joy.

Given my specs, what are the exact steps to get a Fadeport working with Logic?

If 'Presonus Faderport' doesn't show in Logic's list of available devices, how do you get it to show?

I've found posts which mention a Faderport bundle file but some say it's no longer needed. Do I need this file and if so, is there an official Presonus version I can download, and how do I use it?

I've also tried updating the firmware but none of my Macs have USB 2.0 so is there any other way to update the firmware (and will it make a difference)?

When it works, the Faderport the most useful controller around but it was initially very fiddly to setup and now won't work.

What am I missing?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I’m guessing faderport no longer works with Logic - does anyone have any ideas?
