Bit of a conundrum here.
Usually, the faderport works fine, with my e-drums and akai mpk mini installed, No problems there whatsoever. Then, I install my, admittedly old, M-Audio keyrig 49, which has no drivers for Windows 10, only 7. The keyboard works fine, great responses, no noticable latency, but now, the faderport has stopped responding. S1 recognizes that it's there, and the light is on, on the stop button as usual, but it doesn't do anything. Uninstalling the keyrig and drivers fixes the problem, but I would sure like it if both worked. Both are plugged directly into the computer, in the back, no hubs, and in separate locations. Is there any fix to this, or do I need to go out and buy a new keyboard? |
Not sure if its possible based on the construction of your pc. Is there another possible USB cluster on your mobo that you could move either the faderport or the keyrig to? Or possibly add a usb card?
|
You may be right, but just to be clear. I am not talking about adding a USB hub. I am seeing if you have the option of another expansion card, or another USB jack (on the front?), that would now be on a different USB buss and possibly eliminate the problem, as they seem to work independently.
There are some folks looking in to this, so If I get any updates I'll post them here. |
Ok, so I tried plugging the keyboard in to a usb plug on the front of the computer. At first, it actually seemed to work, eureka! However, the lights on the faderport didn't light up, but the controls were all there.
So I unplugged and replugged the faderport to see if it did any good. It didn't. Now, it's back to not responding at all. Educated guess says same will happen if I plug the keyboard in the back and the faderport in the front. |
At least we can rule out certain things, and it seems to be pointing at that driver.
It may be possible that thr front plugs are on the same buss on the mobo. Not sure how much money you want to throw at the problem if we can't guarantee the solution though. |
Well I have thought about updating my mobo and processor, it's a couple of years old, and by now it's the only original part left from when I bought it, pretty much everything else has had an upgrade.
But a keyboard with a current driver is the cheaper option by far |
If your pc specs are accurate, get a new keyboard. No sense jacking up a well speced and perfectly usable pc for an old keyboard. We aren't talking about a vintage moog here.
FWIW, I have the "updated" version in the Keystation, and connectivity is certainly a challenge. It does play nice with the faderport, so I have that going for me. |
