I have two Eris E5 studio monitors but they have never been used. I would like to purchase a record player and use the monitors as speakers as this would be the only use I would have for them. I tried to do my own research but I know very little about this whole area.
- Should I purchase a record player without a build-in preamp and buy an external preamp separately as I have read that the quality will be much better?
- How do I control the volume ?
- Has anyone successfully had a set-up like this with a certain record player? If so which one would you recommend?
I have no access to an audio interface or anything like that. I would really appreciate any guidance. Thank you! :D

Hi, you absolutely need an external preamp with specific record input for the RIAA correction, and to manage the volume.
I don't know about record players with built in preamps so ...
