Eris 3.5 - Is repairing worthy?

Hi, there I'm seeking for advice.
Is it worth repairing the Eris 3.5 speakers? or the price will set me back too far? Will it be better to upgrade to new speakers?
My active speaker just died and I need to travel to the other side of my city for a repair calculation price from an official distributor in my country.
Did anybody repair one of these out of guarantee? how much did you pay?

I contacted them and they were the ones that advised me to get in touch with my local Presonus distributor. The distributor said that they will charge me for the repair even though I am a year and a month behind in guarantee because I bought the speakers in the US, they weren't bought here in Brazil.

OK. So did you find out how much they would charge? I have a pair of these and I really like them. I believe they are $96/pair in the US from Sweetwater.

It really depends on how much labor rates are in your country. I would open in it up and do a visual inspection. If you see leaking or burst capacitors then it might be cheap but if you don't see anything obvious I would ask them how much it cost to replace the whole board. Unfortunately, with stuff that retails cheap, they might not have the spare parts for individual components other than board, speakers etc.

Thank you for your comments!
I'll try to check for simple eyesight problems. Then, I guess that I'll have to travel to the distributor location so they can analyze the speaker. That's what they said. They can't give a price for the repair without looking for damages.
These speakers in Brazil brand new cost around $300 dollars, this is why I am really scared of the price of the repair. :( :(

For anybody out there,my local Presonus distributor said the capacitor is broken and they will charge $200 for a repair. I think it's not worthy, so I am rolling with the passive speaker only hoping for an upgrade for new speakers in the near future.
Thanks for the replies.

Find a buddy who know how to do electronic repairs. The replacement parts should cost much less. Worst case scenario you'll still have broken speaker. Your local distributor probably charges you big $ for labor.
