There's a free small square thin foam that came free with my Eris 5. On the box, it shows that this should be put below the monitors for isolation. Does anyone actually put them below their monitors, if so, does it really help? Or is it too thin for isolation purposes?

Can't hurt. I have foam under all my speakers. It helps define the low end when you can eliminate the acoustic coupling when a speaker is resting on a hard surface. You can get unruly resonance in some instances.

kristabellesantos wroteYes. But this one is actually very thin. Should I still put it? I'd say if you have no other decoupling device (at least Auralex MoPads) then yes, put them on. If you use MoPads or something even better, I'd say the little stick on feet are redundant, and not to bother with them. That said, you should definitely get at least MoPads if you're serious about getting the best out of your monitoring. It makes a really critical difference. |
