Hi fiends!
I have bought used Presonus 16.0.2 some time ago. But I have one problem with it - I can't get any sound from this board. Firewire is working, signal is enters into the board, but no sound from main outs or headphones. May be anyone has same problem? Big thanks for any help!!! |
are you new to the board?
Please give the specs/info of your set-up. It's hard to support you without any information from your side. First: See the firewire returnbuttons in the previous post Second: did you route the channels to the mains? |
jabraham wroteI have a 16.0.2 and am suddenly having this problem. So odd, since I don't think I've changed anything since the last time I used it a few months ago. I will report back after fighting with it for a few more hours or days. I left my board powered off for a few days, then unplugged the Firewire cable and turned it on. I attached a dynamic mic to the talkback port and tried it out, and didn't think it was working, but when I attached the mic to a regular channel I started to get feedback, so it's working again. I also played around with the firewire buttons, but they seemed to have no effect. I have no idea which, if any, of these caused it to start working again: 1) leaving it off for a few days 2) turning it on without the firewire cable plugged in 3) attaching a dynamic mic to the talkback port 4) attaching a dynamic mic to another channel |
I've been playing with this for a bit and I can force my board into no sound mode by changing the sample rate in Universal Control to 48 instead of 44.1. What seems to re-enable sound is to set it back to 44.1 in Universal Control, disconnect the firewire cable from the board, go to system page on the board (page 3) and set the sample rate to 44.1 (perhaps toggle to 48 and then back to 44.1), then turn it the board off for a few minutes, and turn it back on. If you have sound again, you can try plugging the firewire cable back into the computer, and the consistent 44.1 settings between the board and the computer will hopefully work.
I hope this technique keeps working for me, and I also hope it helps out someone else. |
Just a Note to anyone having this problem i fought this for 10 hours back and forth one night
i then in desperation switched off the ac power switch then PULLED OUT THE POWER CORD let it sit around 5 minutes reconnected power turned on and magic happened all outputs working again so i left a signal running on the chan 1 input for 12 hours with the monitor on and in 12 hours it was still working pretty sure it was a 44.1 <> 48 sampling issue but nothing resolved it short of the full power down and pull out the power cable |
Yes, I'm having this problem too. Just started last week. It's happened twice now. The first time around I stumbled across this thread and tried the switching off, disconnecting and restarting etc.....and that did work. But now it's happened for the second time, the switching off and unplugging has not worked.
Is there a specific order of doing these things that people have found successful? I'm maybe doing it the wrong way. Ideally though, Presonus will find out what this error is and resolve it. |
"every day for several years"...
Then I would say think of getting a new mixer. Your old mixer has done a good job, so be happy and thankful. Nothing lasts forever, especially not digital hardware. Obviously your mixer needs a repair, which might cost more than the mixer is worth. Open a ticket in your PreSonus account and get advice from the specialists in Baton Rouge. |
Let me be clear: as I specified, I did say that said "use" of the mixer is mostly as just an audio interface. It's never moved, re-wired etc. I only do music with it once a week if I'm lucky. But it IS permanently connected to my iMac which also acts as my office.
What I'm saying is that you have missed the point completely. The point was that 1) it is not used for live sound and so gets very little 'abuse;, and 2) conversely, it is NOT used so seldom that some change in utilisation goes un-noticed. You get me now? |
I agree, 3 years is too short, even though the mixer was used every day. But still: Open a ticket in your account and get advice from PreSonus. They know the problems the 16.0.2 mixers have and they should have a solution.
Believe me, I have read your posts carefully - and the posts before. The two first "writers" simply disappeared without any concrete information about their problem or a solution. The rest is about the 44.1/48 kHz toggling, which some classic mixers seem to need in order to get going. Actually this might indicate a computer problem because the computer is the "external clock". Unplugging cables and that kind of stuff might help in some situations, also refreshing or a new installing of firmware, but generally it looks like the problem is "built in", which means that something needs to be repaired or replaced inside the mixer. Another theme is the life-cycle of the mixer (and the other SL mixers as well) and there are some "theories" around, but only PreSonus can answer this question - and they never will. Let's say so: I can not imagine any SL "classic" mixer surviving 10 years of daily use, even if it's only used for listening to music... |

Wouldn't this be a better forum for your questons? The forum here is about Classic StudioLive boards and this thread deals with the SL 16.0.2 especially. |
