Hey gang,
I just ordered a new Lenovo laptop and of course it does not offer firewire.
My current mixer is the StudioLive 16:4:2. I have been using an express card for the interface. Now I am going to need a Firewire to USB interface... The new laptop also has a USB Thunderbolt 3C input.
really lost here... Can anyone help?:

thanks,
ra

no, no, no, no, no, no.

It won't work. Without a firewire port, PCI/PCIe port, Cardbus/Expresscard port or Thunderbolt port you're out of options with that Lenovo to ever connect it successfully to a firewire audio interface.

Wouldn't apples thunderbolt to firewire adapter work? They also have a tb3<-->tb2 adpter that might be needed...

Or perhaps this could be a driver problem as well...?

Then maybe, depending on the chipset used on the Lenovo's USB-C port. It has to fully support the Thunderbolt mode including the DMA architecture to be firewire audio interface compatible.

The T470 has a Thunderbolt port.
If there is no fix, then... Does anyone need a StudioLive 16:4:2 for cheap?
