emeraldescape wroteHey Steve or anyone else- I've been doing it now for two years too and I'm actually on a Win8 Rackmount PC. The only thing I found that would make it easier for me is to change the sample rate in UC back and forth instead of having to go into the system menu on the board. I've never tried going through the hassle of reinstalling everything. Steve

Hey Steve- Thanks for the reply & info. Ya that's pretty much what I've been doing for 2 years, I was hoping there was a fix by now. After talking with PreSonus & troubleshooting everything, they said there's no way to fix it but to continue what I've been doing to get it to work.
So last Sunday I figured I'd try to sell it & get the newest Studiolive RM16ai. Unbelievably I sold it for 1050 in 30 minutes on craigslist. Then a company in NY sold me the new Studiolive RM16ai for 1200. I was shocked that it all worked out so smoothly but I'm thankfully for the new Studiolive! In the end I would of kept using the other one but I was afraid eventually it would die in the middle of a large recording session. |
I ran across this frustrating problem. Seems I can get my board going in standalone mode again if I:
1) set sample rate in universal control to 44.1 2) disconnect mixer from FireWire cable. 3) toggle sample rate on board system menu to 48 and back to 44.1 4) turn off the board for a minute or so. It also seems that with the board and computer now set independently to 44.1, I can connect the FireWire cable again and start up universal control. Of course by this point on a gig I'm terrified of losing sound again, so unless recording is the major objective id just leave the FireWire unplugged |
emeraldescape wroteYa that's frustrating. I'd say the the older Studiolive don't work good with some computers. My Studiolive RM16AI has been amazing for me since I got it 2 years ago. I'm set for decades using this setup! Once again, same news here. Bought a RM32AI 2 years ago and never had a problem since. (Sent my SL16 classic in for repair 3 times and still had to do the FireWireID trick whenever I used it) Sold my Classic SL16 for 750 bucks two years ago after paying 200 for a repair right before I sold it. The guy that bought it basically got a one year warranty with it. Steve

Just a Note to anyone having this problem i fought this for 10 hours back and forth one night
i then in desperation switched off the ac power switch then PULLED OUT THE POWER CORD let it sit around 5 minutes reconnected power turned on and magic happened all outputs working again so i left a signal running on the chan 1 input for 12 hours with the monitor on and in 12 hours it was still working pretty sure it was a 44.1 <> 48 sampling issue but nothing resolved it short of the full power down and pull out the power cable |
