UPDATE: The issue has been fixed on the Server side. Network Update should now be working for everyone.

We've just recently discovered a bug in the previous firmware release for the RM series mixers and AI consoles that can prevent Network Firmware Update from working.

It affects all RM mixers on firmware 6184, and any AI Console on 6188 that also has an AVB option card installed.

When you attempt a Network Update, your mixer pings a registration server and checks to see if its serial number is registered to a user account. If the mixer shows as registered, it then checks for a newer firmware version than what it currently has installed. If there is a new firmware version, the mixer then downloads and installs the new firmware. If the current firmware matches what's on the mixer, it returns a message saying Firmware Is Current.

The problem we've unconvered is that the AVB release firmwares (6184 for the RM, 6188 for the Consoles) are mis-transmitting the serial number of the mixer, so when it checks for registration, the wrong serial number is checked for, and thus it gives you the message of "Device Not Registered".

If you mixer is on firmware prior to the AVB release (5844/5646), or you have an AI Console on 6188 that does not have an AVB option card installed, you can do a Network Firmware Update.

If your RM mixer is on firmware 6184, or your AI Console is on firmware 6188 and it has an AVB option card installed, you'll have to use the USB stick firmware update method. We're working on a creative workaround on the server side that should resolve the problem immediately without any firmware changes, and that should go into effect today most likely. At that point, everyone should again be able to correctly check for and perform a Network Firmware Update.

The unfortunate reality is that there is no way to catch this sort of issue with Network Update until the firmware gets released to the public so that there's something to actually update to, as the registration server it polls must be hard-coded into the firmware
