In the Aux routing window, there are numbers across the top of the grid that are for Firwewire channels. Are they the same as the Dante Channels? I can answer that. No they are not. but should they be?

When I route Mix 1&2 (wishing I could split those) to channels 35&36, I expect to be able to hear the mix I've built in Aux 1, at the Dante receiver channels on the device I've patched them to in Dante Controller.

But NO.

The only times I can get ANY audio out of the Board via Dante is when I patch a channel directly, i.e., ch28 to Dante receiver channel 15. or take output 37&38 with the mains turned up. Are 37&38 the mains output Dante channels?

I just want to send a "mix minus" to a telephone hybrid and these routing channels are about as clear as ketchup, (catsup).

The SL32.4.2 shows up in DC as a 64 output device, but what do the outputs correspond to? I've read the Setup and Hookup manual and alas is says nada about the channel/output correlation.

A handy chart might help.

Thanks.

Just a guess here as this is what I see from a FireWire point of view, 33 and 34 are the main mix left and right, 35 is aux1 36 is aux2 37 is aux3 and so on.

Again that's how I see my rm32 thru FireWire, should be the same with daunte. . .

Make sure you have the flex fader turned up for the aux too. . .

(After reading your post again it looks like you were trying to use the right numbers) I have seen a post in one of these threads that details all the daunte transmitters and receivers, try searching the word transmitters and I bet you'll find it

Dante Transmitters

Inputs 1-32 (tapped just after the mic pre)
Auxmix outputs 1-16
Main L-R
Mono (centre)
FX Sends 1-4
Solo bus
Talkback

Dante Receivers

Input Channels 1-32 (inserted directly before the FAT channel)
Digital Return (channels 33,34)

This chart posted by another forum user suggests that the auxes come before the mains which would make aux1 = 33 (not 35)

Thanks Steve,

I just followed that layout logic and ran smack into the same frustration... but then I noticed in device config view in Dante Controller that audio was deflecting on Dante 43! (?!?!?!?)

Routing 43 to the destination WORKED! Then routing 44 to the second mix-minus input worked as well! Looks like the Aux Mixes start corresponding at Dante output 43/44.

Thanks for the response,

JB

Hi

That "chart" was posted by me, but it was not intended as a chart of channel numbers, just a list of what is available (from memory, in no particular order) in answer to another question.

To make things easy, in your user account under the 32.4.2AI heading you find the Dante card install instructions. (You did register your Dante card to your account didn't you?)

Those instructions contain two important links...
Dante Firmware Update Manager - from Audinate. Required to keep the Dante chip up to date with all the new "features" Audinate are adding..
and SL3242AI.dnt config file. (I don't have a link, my Dante card is in RM32). This file changes all the default Dante channel numbers displayed in Dante Controller to the correct channel names, so you never have to worry if aux3 is on ch 38 or whatever, it is listed by name. It also removes all the un-used channels from the matrix making things a lot easier.

You install the config file using Dante Firmware Update Manager.

Karyn,

You had ALL the answers. The firmware update is exactly what was required. The system works correctly now.

Thank you.

I'm having a similar issue. Where do I find the SL3242AI.dnt config file?

Thanks,

If you've created a Presonus account and registered your desk you will have a personal area on Presonus.com that you log into. This lists all the gear/software that you've registered and has all the firmware updates, software revisions, extra DLC that is available.

It is important that you also register the Dante card against your SL32 in order to get access to the related Dante software/firmware.
