(despair mode)
It is now 8 month I hooked my StudioLive 16.0.2 in my studio. Channel 1 to 2 : Microphones - XLR Channel 3 to 6 : Live instrument with di box - XLR Channel 7 to 10 : unused Channel 11/12 : Vdrums Roland - Jack Channel 13/14 : Audio input from my PC - RCA Channel 15/16 : Mac audio (logic) - Firewire Midi connected to an old JX10 as keyboard (logic) Everything worked perfectly till this afternoon. I turn on speakers and the studiolive. No sound from the microphones. I unplug, replug check and find out that ONLY when I plug the microphones on the XLR of channel 13/14 or 15/16 or Talkback Mic I got audio signal. Any other channel play dead. I test the jack input and it is the same. I did a factory reset using Universal Control. Turn all off... Nada. This is turning me crazy ! How come only 2 channel and the talkback are alive ???!!!!? Help......... |
The story is not over.
I'm using the mixer 4 times the week and it happen that only 2 channel (13/14 and 15/16) only work. Not only with RCA input but also XLR input (Microphone). I take care to turn on the main power switch, then last of everything the console, but still... This evening I can't use it. Does anyone have a suggestion ? |
Is this with a computer connected to the mixer? Sounds to me like a Tech ticket is in order they will get you up and running again!

May be some pros can help me with a few question related to my issue.
I'm trying to figure the difference between channel 1 to 12 and 13 to 16. I understand there is in the console a 12 input class A XMAX microphone preamp. Is it assigned on input 1 to 12 ? I also checked the Block Diagram of the console and re-tested using XLR input, TRS left and TRS right and it is the same. Input meters are not moving when the problem occurs so the issue seems to be from the XLR/TRS input to the A/D Input Buffer. (Studiolive 16.0.2 Block Diagram) |
Seems like a hardware problem.

keymcgee, thanks for your reply.
I bought my device in the US and now I'm in a different country (Israel) and it seems it is a kind of complicate to apply the international warranty and I'm trying to figure how we can solve this with Presonus. I'm confident a solution will be found, but in the meantime, do you have any details about the problem you had and the solution that was applied ? What was the technical issue ? Is part has being changed ? What did they told you ? It will certainly help me to progress with Presonus if we have a precise idea of my issue. It may also be important for Presonus to fix this issue if it is not an isolated case. Many thanks for helping me with this. Bernard |
Yes, You need to contact Tech support and they will get you back up and going again.
Cheers

Good day;
I'm repairing a studiolive 16.0.2 mixer with precisely the same fault, when turning it on it works fine, but when you turn it off and turn it on again they stop sounding channels 1 to 12, they only work 13/14 and 15/16, I would like to know how have solved, for what I see is a common and recurring failure in these mixers so it must have a simple solution (maybe some factory defect) , the analog inputs work with the DAC PCM4204, all the reset inputs of the DAC (pin 10) they go in parallel so I do not think that's the problem, since I update the firmware and the problem continues, if I connect the mixer by firewire to universal control and I select channel 1 as a digital input if it gives sound, so the fault is DAC back, tomorrow I will review with oscilloscope to see if the analogous signal reaches to reach the DAC input, if so I imagine that the failure will be the DAC .... the three DAC at the same time !!!. .. Any suggestions? |
...
Mine was repaired and worked fine for about a year. One day they were a power outage while the mixer was on and since then problem is partially back. If I plug the mixer to the computer it loss all output. I have to physically unplug the mixer, plug the computer (MBP OSX), wait for about 3mn, plug back and turn it on. One thing I noticed, if I hear weird noise from the monitor (kind of "tack, tack, tack...") I know it will be ok. If there is no sound I just redo the all operation. Once working, it work for good. |
Well I tell you that I could solve the problem of the mixer.
The damage was in the 5V regulator that feeds the first 3 ADC and therefore stopped working the first 12 channels, the 5V did not reach the measurement point, only 3.3V arrived, the other regulator fed the output DACs and the ADC of the input channels 13/14 and 15/16. The two regulators are on the left side of the main board, next to the connector of the power supply. |
Hey nice, I could give it a try.
Do you have the ref of the 5V regulator or picture ? (anything to help) Somewhere on this board ? http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/501456- ... 410-PG1PWR |
