Hi all,
I really love Notion but have the problem that it is really unreliable for me. I often can‘t use it because it will constantly break down while starting up. A restart of the ipad or complete delete and new install doesn‘t help. A few hours later it starts up as it was nothing… next day it breaks down again. I can‘t find the reason why. Anybody else with this problem or even better with a fix? I‘m on an iPadPro 2020 with the latest iPad OS 16.3.1 Best regards - Christoph |
Hi all,
as noted beforeI have the problem that Notion Mobile on my iPadPro crashed right during startup and I never found out what could cause that. I normally use my iPad like an computer on my desktop and with the poweradapter plugged in. I discovered yesterday that this might cause the crashes…. when I‘m plugged in, Notion will crash, when I‘m in battery mode Notion works like a charm. After that discovery I investigated a little bit longer and found out that it might has to do with my interface RME Babyface that is plugged in a router that is connected combined with the poweradapter. When I unplug the interface Notion will run also with the poweradapter - as soon as I plug in the interface Notion crashes. Best regards - Christoph |
Hi Christoph,
Here I have tried with a RME Fireface UCX with an iPad Pro and I can't reproduce this issue. Can you kindly try to update the firmware of your RME Babyface along with your iOS ? It may cause this issue. Best Sinan

Hi Sinan,
thank you very much for your reply. I have the RME Babyface Pro and did the flash update like you suggested, but Notion still crashes as soon as I connect the Babyface to my hub. I‘m on the latest iPad OS 16.3.1 It took me quite some time to find out that the crashes relate to the Babyface… Best regards - Christoph |
Hmmm, it was worth a shot. Do you have your Baby Face Pro plugged into a power source? Not just the usb port of the ipad? I didn't understand from what you wrote whether you had the Baby Face Pro plugged into it's own power source.
I'm assuming you are running the USB out from the Baby Face Pro and using an adapter to convert the USB Type A plug to a USB type C to plug into the Ipad, is that correct? Could the adapter or cable be damaged? |
Hi acequantum - thanks for the continuing troubleshooting ideas.
I have the Babyface Pro plugged into an hub which is powered by a strong apple adapter so there is enough power to keep the Babyface alive and it can charge the iPadPro. I never plugged the Babyface directly into the iPadPro - in order to do so I would need an USB A to USB C adapter… I can just tell that all other apps that work with sound and use the Babyface Pro like Cubasis, Safari, YouTube etc don‘t have that problem - so I don‘t think it belongs to a corrupted cable… but you‘ll never know. I will investigate. Best regards - Christoph |
