Atom SQ - Duplicate Steps - SOLVED!

My SQ arrived today.I've read the manual and I'm trying to duplicate the basic 16 steps to make them copy my original 16, turn them into 32/64 etc, but there seems to be no sort of function for that, from what I can see.

What makes no sense,is if I start off with a basic 16 steps, and I want to extend that to 32,64,or 128.. The only way I can see to do this, is to change the steps manually , but that doesn't duplicate the previous steps..

Also there doesn't appear to be any visual representation on the controller..For example, how do we follow the steps on the hardware, as we go past 16 steps?

Anyone figured this out yet? Super lost with it ;(

Other then this, the unit is built fine pads and velocity feel fine, despite what I've read.

The knobs don't at all show values ,so you have to move them to get any sort of visual readout..
The browser immediately closes once you load a kit, that's aggravating hopefully, that can be changed.. When loading different sounds, I don't want that constant battle to have to open a browser, it should be set to autoload upon scrolling as an option at the very least.

My main issue,is there's no real good documentation on how to perform the most basic functions such as duplicate steps on the step sequencer, which is frustrating.

Anyone find a way to duplicate steps from the SQ?

Seems counterintuitive to have to do this in the software.

Is this Step Seq with the Sq, just not ready yet?

Thanks in advance if you can help :reading: :?

You can make a patter 64 steps long (4 bars) The left/right arrows (under the main display) is how you select each group of 16. When you do this note the grey line above in the editor display in Studio One will change from 1-16 to 17-32 etc..This is how you still see each group of 16 steps in TR808 programming mode.

But what I want to ask you John is do you want to say start with a pattern that is 1 bar long (eg 16 steps) Create a bass drum pattern say and then duplicate the bass drum part say 4 times so the pattern is now 64 steps long. And then you want to add other sounds in etc..

I have worked this out now. What you do is start by creating a pattern 1 bar long. eg 16 steps. Add in say your kick part that you know you want to repeat 4 times. You can use TR808 style programming to do it. Select the sound in the top row and place the hits using the bottom row of SQ pads.

Stop the DAW. Select the pattern. Press D on your keyboard 3 times and it is now 4 patterns the same. Press G to merge them all. The pattern is now converted to a part. Then select this part and right click, go to Instrument parts and select Convert Part to pattern again.

You now have a pattern 64 steps long (eg 4 bars) You can go back to TR808 style programming again and use the left/right arrows mentioned above to select the correct group of 16 to add in the extra sounds.

Yes I know LOL! :D I agree with you about the manual. Its basic and just shows essential functionality and lots of detail is left out. I think what will happen is lots of great videos on it will start to surface and some good people will get right into it and show its full potential. Its only just come out so we need time for these things to surface. PreSonus will do it and others as well.

Keep asking for things though and when you hit a road block put it up here. Its either possible or we can get new features added in.

I've tried finding youtube video's that went into detail about the step sequencer, but there isn't anything other then some basic explanations in them. Thanks jemusic for breaking that down to me. I think Presonus should get some better documentation on this, thanks to jemusic and (themusik johnnys) channel.

The Sequencer Deep Dive is a good video. And there is an easier way to duplicate a kick part that might start out as a one bar pattern and you may want it to end up over a 4 bar pattern etc..
