rguitar78 wroteI agree, an all LEDs off feature is needed. As for the three brightness options that are currently there, I could also see a 4th level being useful too, but not nearly as important as being able to turn these lights off when not in use.

I have a classic FaderPort and the lights stay off until I boot up Studio One - they also turn back off once I close the DAW. Not sure why they moved away from that mindset.

I just made this a feature request, vote up the post to get Presonus to possibly see it sooner.

Voted for it. Thanks for the FR.

Ditto likewise :+1

You can buy short usb male to female cables that have an inline switch - that would work, but it would be better to be 'built-in' to the controller. I defo don't fancy the idea of physically plugging/unplugging the unit all the time!

On a slightly OT note - here am I mucking about in the Forums, all nicely logged in - when I followed the link to the FR and clicked +1, it said I had to login first

Didn't ask if I was human though! :D

I agree with the need for a hibernate capability great though the Atom is. However, I have found this USB hub with individual on / off switches at a very cheap price which could be considered as a practical fix, and a useful workstation top device nevertheless.

Data goes through it? Can you confirm this works with Atom? I find it hard to believe.

If people make recommendations can they please test first and confirm it works

patrickhoonhout wroteAnd how long will the connectors in my Atom USB port last or start to fatigue and result in failure? The square USB ports are not designed to be pulled out daily.

Every other MIDI device, audio device I have has an On/Off switch why should the Atom be any different? I don't understand how a product such as the Atom could be designed without an on/off mode?

Totally concur, but I have come up with a rather satisfying workaround that doesn't involve connecting and disconnecting any cords or cables. . In my studio, I backlight my main console with three different coloured LED up-lighters (rapidly becoming as essential as the Lava Lamp for that 'studio vibe' lol ) Having thought about the Atom 'lights off' scenario, I then reconfigured my anti surge power strips and used a separate 4-way power strip to the three lights, and also a powered USB hub and connected it directly to my DAW. I then moved an Amazon Alexa Dot from a spare room, along with an Amazon Alexa plug from my wifes side of the bed which she doesn't use, With this configuration, I can turn the Atom on and off at will with a single voice command along with my back-lit LED mouse and keyboard and also the studio lights, preventing me having to crawl under the console every time I want to put the LED uplights on.

OK its a workaround, but a satisfying one nonetheless, and I offer it to the group here until the good folk at Presonus offer us a possible firmware update for turning the Atom lights off...

I didn't see that caveat before buying and testing. No, it does not work.

The simple usb switch I use is:

It does power and data. And so far I am pleased that I can now turn off Atom at night instead of lighting up the whole night sky. 👍

I got it off Amazon for $6.99

1) Please do not ship gear without power switches in future. Bad bad Presonus. Slap wrist.

I have a USB powered hub which allows me to turn it off so yes that is a solution.

However who on earth would want the whole thing lit up all the time? It makes no sense at all and there should be an option to turn the lights off or set that they only come on when you connect to a DAW. Clearly it recognises a connect because it changes now.

It must be a very simple firmware job to combine a couple of buttons to do it. Come on Pre-sonus it's been far to long like this just sort it out please.

Yeah, also have my Atom now connected to a switchable, bus-powered hub going into my larger table hub. It´s a workable solution but downright stupid if you think about how much easier and more convenient a firmware fix would be.
Hard to believe this isn't already implemented but here we are.

Did receive mine today and i am absolutly not pleased by this always on. Makes absolutly no sense. This has to be turned off if not used.

Do it Presonus! Dont waste our time. How would someone even come on the idea that this has to shine in your face 24/7?

It annoys the xxxxx out of me.

It does depend on what USB port you may be on too. I have got mine in a USB port that is in a separate PCI card and for some reason this powers down when the computer is off so mine goes out. But I realise this is not a workable solution for everyone. It does light up the whole studio! Are there any settings for what your USB port does when the computer is off? I will check in with the developers and see if this can be changed with firmware.

"when the computer is off" <- Dude it has to be off when not working wihin Studio One. Not first at the point where you shut down your PC.

Why was this even released without power-button.

I recently got a Novation Launchpad X. You can turn off the lights by pressing two buttons, takes a 1 second and it turns back on by pressing any button.

Presonus could of course do something similar with their software if they wanted to...

Let me toss in another vote for a proper USB shutdown mode.

That said, even in standard operation mode, I find the LEDs too bright. How about a LED mode where the main pads are off unless they sense a pressure?
