Presonus Faderport V2 bus powered?

It is stated that for the motorized fader to work, this device needs to be connected with a power adapter. So can it be used without a power adapter as well? Will the fader still work in Studio One as a regular, manually controlled fader with soft pick-up?

Here's the required tech specs per PreSonus. The external power supply is required for the motorized fader to work but it doesn't say if the fader can manually control Studio One without it.

I don't have a FaderPort 2 but hopefully someone who does can respond to your specific question.
