I’m going to build a new PC soon and want to make sure it is compatible with the latest Quantum. All suggestions are welcomed.

I would buy a creator motherboard with native support for thunderbolt. I prefer Intel. Like for example:
ASUS PROART Z790-CREATOR Also be sure to buy a certified thunderbolt 3 cable from for example Startech. Not more than 2 meter.
My system
Intel Core i9-10900K Processor Noctua NH-U12A CPU cooler Gigabyte Z490 VISION D Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB SSD Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz 64GB MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Gaming X Trio 12G StarTech Thunderbolt Cable 2M (TBOLTMM2MW) StarTech Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter (TBT3TBTADAP) Neumann TLM 102 microphone Presonus Quantum Windows 10, Ableton 11, Cubase 10 |
My system is uses the Gigabyte Z490 Vision D, the same as what's in TerjeNorway's signature. Same cable too. I had some problems with the 2626 at first, but they were resolved several firmware and driver releases ago.
I'm sure you'd get something newer now, but I'll second the recommendation to get onboard Thunderbolt support. This was more common with Intel when I built my current system. Otherwise I'd have gone with AMD as I had for the previous three systems before this one. |
