Yes, I believe Apple's TB4 implementation still supports backwards compatibility. It was killed specifically on Intel's Maple Ridge (JHL8540) controller in a firmware update, which is the controller most commonly used for PC implementation of TB4. AFAIK, Apple use their own hardware solution that properly supports TB1 and TB2. It still puzzles me that whatever issues Intel were facing, that's how they chose to "solve" them.

Don't know if it's any help but my 2626 always needs Device Manager refreshed before achieving sync.

I'm running Windows 10 on aIntel Core I9 10900x s2066, 64GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 C16 Ram (4 x 16GB)
Asus Prime X299-A II mobo, with GIGABYTE TITAN RIDGE rev2 Thunderbolt 3 PCIe CARD, and Starch 2m Active Thunderbolt 3 cable

2626 is thunderbolt 3 so nothing to do with problems with thunderbolt 2 devices

Ran the roll back FW tool. Verifed NVM31 was now loaded. 2632 was intermittant on connection, but did work. After some poking around on the web, landed on a UA fourm, and some said they had to disable Win10 support in bios for thunderbolt. After I did that, my Quantum 2632 now connects rock soild evertyime. I can even turn it off and on after window 11 loads and it connect instantly.
