Hi, I'd like to use the soundcard to output CV to my modular system and I need to know If I can connect normal mono TS Jack without risking a short circuit or do I have to use a "floating ring" TRS cable with only the Tip and Shield soldered to the TS Jack going to the CV in to avoid the risk?

PreSonus’ +18dBu outputs tend to be impedance balanced only, so no active cold pin. There’s an easy way to confirm: half-click a ts jack in the output (i.e. insert it only so far that the tip of the jack connects to the socket’s ring contact). If you get a signal then the output is actively balanced, if not then not.
Either way line outputs should be short-circuit proof, so even an actively balanced jack output should happily accept a ts jack. |
