Discuss Quantum Series Interfaces Here

Hi all,

I have recently acquired a Quantum 2626 to take advantage of the Thunderbolt 3 high speeds connectivity with my MacBook Pro for my audio needs. I also have a Behringer XR18 unit that I've used with my keyboards in the past which I will be offloading as it doesn't fit my future intent with my new home studio.

What I'm looking to do is to expand the number of inputs available using ADAT to the 2626 and have become confused by the number of options available.

What I'm looking for is guidance on what rack mountable audio interfaces I should seriously consider that will connect to the Quantum 2626 via ADAT or Thunderbolt and expand the number of inputs so that I have a total of 24 audio inputs available from the 2626 to the MacBook.

So far, I've been told to consider a number of options for additional 16 channels to connect to the Quantum 2626. A few of these are as follows. I've left the more expensive interfaces off the list as I cannot justify spending an excessive amount of money...
    * Behringer ADA8200 x 2 (ADAT)
    * Behringer S32 (ADAT)
    * Midas DL32 (ADAT)
    * Quantum 2626 x 2 (ADAT)

I do not want to spend a lot of money (budget of max $1,500) considering it is for a home studio that will not be going beyond 48K recordings anytime soon.

Any constructive advice to my dilemma will certainly be appreciated.

Thanks,
Wayde :cry:

I got a used Digimax D8 via eBay to connect to my 2626. There are 8 mic inputs, and I've had zero problems my total of 16. I suppose you could go with 2 D8s for your goal of 24, but I have no experience with that configuration.

The old D8s can't go above 48kHz, but that's within your parameters, which makes used units a good buy. Additional 2626s sound like overkill for your needs.

I use a old Yamada 03D digital mixer with an ADAT card installed. It allows me to expand my inputs to 16
as well as live monitor all my studio gear without my PC or 2626 having to be on. All of my fixed gear gets run in to 1-8 of the 03D and output to 9-16 of the 2626 ADAT ins. This way I can still play my gear regardless of whether my laptop is running and swtching from live monitoring to recording all of it in 1 button push. It has every connection you could want and more.

I got the Behringer 8200s and they’re running ok. Also the sound is not bad.

I run two DP88s with my quantum and a Motu 896HD in aggregate in OSX for 48 total inputs. If you’re on a mac, aggregate mode is incredible.

Studio One Pro 5.5, Studio One Pro 6.12, Faderport 16, Faderport Classic (1.45), Metric Halo ULN-8 MKIV, Presonus Quantum, Presonus Quantum 2, Ferrofish Pulse 16, (2) Digimax DP88, Audient ASP800, BLA HD192, 27-Inch Late 2012 3.2GHZ i5 32 GB 1600 DDR3, 2Tb SSD, 10.13.6 High Sierra + 10.14 Mojave + Windows 10

I just bought the exact same configuration (Quantum 2626 with Behringer 8200s) but I can't make the Behringer work. I plug the ADAT Out of the 8200 to the ADAT In of the Quantum but this is obviously not the right way... Could you please tell me how you plug it? Thanks!

what are you using for clock? And have you set all your clock settings? I use an 18i20 feeding the quantum over dual adat then have the 18i20 clock slaved to the quantum over the quantums adat out to the 18i20 in

Exactly the same setup for me: 2626 with 18i20 slaved…

I have connected the ins and outs as well (both directions, so I used 4 optical cables all in all) and have connected the clock sync connector with the ADAs as well using a BNC-cable to the first one with a T-piece and from there the next BNC-cable to the second ADA. Set the Quantum 2626 as the clock master and set the ADAs to be slaved.

Everything works absolutely flawlessly here.
