Do DAC’s have a sweet spot? When you connect a device and adjust the level on the interface should it be set high enough for the DAC to function optimally? For example, I’m recording a drum kit. The snare hits peak levels easily so I have to turn the level down to only -30dBFS on the Quantum in order to keep the level in my DAW at around -18dbs. Do that DAC’s need to be driven at a higher level? I feel I should see the level much higher in the green, but the level in my DAW would be maxed.
