1. My Quantum becomes very hot sometimes. Is that normal? Can anybody confirm that? I use it in a 19" studio case where front and back is open.

2. Mono, Dim/Mute and Talk buttons work fine with my speakers (Main Out), but not with my headphones (set to Main Out). Only Talk works on headphones. The same with Main Output Controls in UC Surface Control. Any ideas?

Keep us posted. Indeed there is no substantial venting, or could be a problem. As Jeff said, best to open a support ticket as mine does not show overheating either.

Not sure I follow what the problem is for question 2. Are you saying that you only hear talkback through the headphones, and not the studio speakers?

How do you have your headphones 1 & 2 cnfigured in Universal Control? How are your headphones shown in Studio One if that is the DAW you are using?

1. The support told me that the Quantum gets hotter than the Studio 192. They think it's normal. Hmm. I'm a little bit insecure ...

2. Then they told me the behavior with my headphones is normal. I can't believe that. I try to explain again:
On the one hand I monitor my stereo audio signal through my speakers. They are connected to the main outs of the Quantum. The buttons DIM/Mute and MONO work fine (Quantum or UC Surface or in Studio One). The other way I monitor my stereo audio signal through my headphones and there is no change in loudness (DIM/MUTE button) or no mono signal (MONO button), when I use these buttons. The signal for headphones is set to Main Out which is equivalent to the main outputs of the Quantum. In Studio One there is a new control right from the master fader. There you can change these buttons, too. But no effect.
The TALK button works fine in both situations (speakers and headphones).
Hope that helps.

The support told me I could post a feature request for something that should be obvious in my opinion.

@gaetzsch: As I did some research about monitoring capabilities in actual audio interfaces and dedicated monitor controllers lately, I have bad news for you: It is indeed the standard feature set. The headphones out is obviously not implemented for mixing purposes most of the time, but for recording. Personally I would also like to have an A/B switch between monitors and headphones.

It's normal for TB hardware...I used a "red one" before Quantum and was worst.
A firewire interface is a little bit hotter than a usb one...
A TB interface is hotter than a firewire and much hotter than a usb
