I've had the firestudio project interface now for about fourteen years, and it has served me well. Looking to upgrade and was wondering if the sound quality has improved on the newer models...? I can see they still use xmax preamps (which the project has)
The only benefits I can see is reduced latency, sleeker designs.. Note: are the usb 3 interfaces backwards compatible to usb 2.0 My budget is around £400 tops Thoughts? Tah |
I feel that the sound quality has improved a lot compared to the old devices. I know they are using a newer spec converter chip and such. As for the Studio USB and Studio C devices go, they are both running at USB 2.0 speeds. The Studio C interfaces only use a USB C connection but they are not truly a USB C speed device so its USB 2.0 chipsets in the devices.
I just moved from a Firestudio 26x26 with 2 Digimax FS units and the Studio 18|24c is playing really well with the M1 Mac Studio so far. I'm recording with super low buffer settings and latency seems to be sub 5ms. |
