I typically use either an NT1-A, or Oktava(modded) mic, to record female vocal.
What I experience is, in order to see a strong signal coming into S1(input peaks at 0 or little above), the Studio Channel VU meter always pegs hard with any volume from the singer.
I have tried various settings for the comp section...
I'm not getting distortion in S1, but I just cannot seem to hit upon the magic combination of input gain, compression settings, & output ..

Is there any sort of 'best practice' for general vocal settings for the SC preamp?
Is it normal to have VU's pegging?

Appreciate any help here..

Cheers,
Rich
