So multirack seems to recognize my SL16 as long as I´ve set it to 48 kHz. However, when sending signal via USB to multirack I get feedback returning to the mixer on the same channel.
This never happened with my RM32 through firewire. Any ideas? |
I don't know so much about Multirack, but I suppose your problem is described in the manual, section 2.3.3 "Channel Settings". Check the "Digital Send Source" and change either from Digital to Analog or from Analog to Digital. Also be aware of the Digital Return (Tape In). Raising the fader can also cause feedback in certain constellations...

RM always sources analog for the FireWire Digital Send.
Series 3 has the option exposed under channel settings. When you switch to USB, the Digital Send is automatically switched to 'Digital Source'. Just switch it back to Analog per channel that you need.

I think I figured it out... unlike FireWire, USB does not send signal I/O simultaneously.
I got it to work this way: 1. Analog Input signal= “Channel 1” (this seems to send digital signal regardless) 2. Multirack receives the signal digitally on channel 1. 3. Set your output on multirack to another channel (channel 2) 4. On your mixer set channel 2 to USB This would be a setup say if you want to use auto tune real-time on a vocal. You would have to mute channel 1 though otherwise you’ll hear the source and the return at the same time. You can keep channel 1 unmuted if you use a nice reverb or delay on multirack. You would receive the effect back on channel 2 in this example. If there is an easier way please let me know. Thanks. |
Re-read what I said.
The digital send source determines what the USB Send is outputting. When you switch the Input to USB Source, you MUST change the Digital Send Option BACK to Analog. This will allow the Analog Input signal to be sent OUT over the USB Send (to Multirack), then the USB Return (from Multirack) will be heard on the same input channel.

If I understand it right, Multirack uses the same routing as Studio One (or any DAW), Channel 1 feeds track 1 and receives signal from track 1. In this case Digital Send Source must be set to "Analog" (UC Surface manual, section 2.3.3 Channel Settings "5"). Digital Send Options should be "Pre", because you do want the Fat Channel processing.
