While we don't have a mapping specific for Ableton, we are writing a Knowledge Base article on setting it up. Perhaps Cubase as well.
Not sure if / when this will be published.

Any updates on this?
I have connected my studiolive 32sc to my Mac via usb and also via network cable (in a switch) but Ableton is not seeing the 32sc as a MCU “source” in midi preferences. It sees my other midi equipment fine. Also, the 32SC does show up as audio input/output, so the usb connection is working, but I think DAW mode is exclusively through the network “control” port? Any ideas? Or maybe someone can post a small howto? |
Unzip the following attachment for the Ableton Live (MCU) setup screens I'm using with my SIII 32:

Hi, I've been testing DAW mode on my StudioLive 32SC with Ableton Live 11.0.x and it half works: connection to the mixer is working but there's a big problem regarding the update of fader positions on the mixer. In short, either the faders don't update at all or they update with a delay, or they update after pressing page up or down a couple of times. It seems very unstable.
Any ideas about what to try next or how to troubleshoot this? I'm on macOS Big Sur 11.5.2 and on the latest firmware for the console and the latest Universal Control app. Thanks! |
Again, we only have two official 3rd party DAWs that we support, Logic (MCU) and Pro Tools (HUI).
The firmware needs specific mapping to each DAW to work correctly. MCU protocol isn't plug-n-play, so the mixer cannot use one mapping for all DAWs. Any functionality you get, is well, what you get.

He wrote in March 2019 "we don't have a mapping specific for Ableton", which means that some functions of the MCU protocol, as released three years ago, will work for Ableton. There is no DAW Mode for Ableton, just for Studio One, Logic (MCU) and Pro Tools (HUI). Would one of the Faderport controllers be a solution?
