Back again for a quick question. When using the SL32 as a stand alone, we use the SUB outputs (C for main mix going to another smaller room and D for main mix to sub woofers where band is playing). This way, we can control the subwoofer levels independent of the mains. Now we just bought the 32R and are using it PURELY as a STAGE BOX - however, on the back, it DOES NOT HAVE the dedicated SUBA-D outputs. What do we do (how do we route the mix) so that we can connect the sub and smaller room to the SL32R being used as a stange box, rather than run 2 separate long cables back to the main cousul's SUB C and D OUT? We want the only cable coming to the 32 to be the data CAT cable ... no mains, no subs to rooms or subwoofers ...etc. In other words, we want to acheive the same capability as if SUB OUT was available on the 32R? Please help - I know it can be done :-)

Have you got 2 free outputs available on the 32R? In that case you can use digital patching on the console to pick subs C and D as the source for the AVB sends going to those free 32R outputs.

If not then you will have to buy more ‘AVB outputs’ e.g. by adding an NSB stage box to your network.

Routing subgroups C and D of the console to outputs 15 and 16 on the rack mixer/stagebox means to send C to AVB output stream 55 and D to AVB output stream 56. Flex mixes 15 and 16 will then be automatically disconnected from the stagebox outputs.

But that is not what we want, right? We want to be able to say plug the subwoofer to Aux16 on the SR32R and send the kick, toms and bass only to the sub and control it's volume from the main SL32 counsol..., then plug another speaker into Aux15 where we send a similar mix to that of the mains for a smaller dinning room.

In fact it does. Stagebox mode makes the 32R’s outputs ‘listen’ to the console’s AVB sends. All you need to do is change what those sends are sending, in the digital patching section of the console.

AVB routing probably is something new for you. ;-) But it can do exacty what you were asking for: Sending SL 32 (FOH) fixed subgroup C and D to flex mix output 15 and 16 of the 32R (stagebox). On the other hand this does mean that you can NOT send aux 15 and 16 to the stagebox, because you are using the AVB streams of those flex mixes. But they are still available "locally" on the SL 32.

The alternative is to forget subgroups C and D and use flex mixes 15 and 16 as subgroups.

AVB routing is a world on its own... ;-)

What you mention above "Sending SL 32 (FOH) fixed subgroup C and D to flex mix output 15 and 16 of the 32R (stagebox)." is EXACTLY what we want to accomplish - please for the steps to set this up ... and yes AVB is new to me. Doing this once will get me started and give me a better understanding of how it works :-) We are trying to maximize the use of the 32R so as to avoid running additional cables from SUB C and SUB D to the speakers and subs respectively, else it begins to defeat the purpose of just using the CAT7 cable to connect the SL32 with the SL32R (in stagebox mode).

On the console mixer:
Home -> Audio Routing -> Digital Patching -> AVB Sends
Scroll down to AVB 55 (Assigned Source = Mix 15) and select
Tap on ‘Available Source’ on the right
Scroll down to Sub C and select
Now Subgroup C (instead of Mix 15) goes via AVB Send 55 to 32R Mix Output 15
(provided that the 32R is in Stage Box mode)
